My nephew rode on back of the pony to reach on top, while I took more harder way and trek almost 22km on my foot. The time difference of making on top between two of us is only an hour. My nephew is almost half of my age. He is a youth of exuberant energy and stamina. When we planned the trip, he was so excited to climb on foot, but ultimately he gave up within the first 5 km. He started pumping hard, unable to move his legs and started to faint. Such is the condition of todsys youth. Not accustomed to more physical things.

The situation is not only with my nephew, atleast he tried till 5 km. But I have seen people as young as in 20's or 30's were unable to cope up with physical endurance. They prefer to more comfort way rather than facing the tough terrain. And when they do such things at pligrimiage location, I find it very disrepectful for the deity or goddess.
Many of the pligrimiage location in India were discovered in ancient times. Places likes of Vaisno Devi, Kailash Mansarovar, Amarnath etc were located in the high altitude region. The time those were located, there were hardly any facilities to walk down to the uphill areas. As devotee started to transcend they follow the usual rough and tough terrain route to move to top. Irrespective of any situation, they complete the devotional trip. But as the number increased and government started to take initiative to develop these areas. Many facilities were started to pour in including proper roads, accomodation and carriage services like pony or porter services.

In begining, these pony or porter services were only meant for the needy or incapable person like sick or old age, who unable to take the tough path on foot. But slowly, every other person started to avail their services. What makes me more disturbing is to find even young people riding on the back with proud. They seems to enjoy to ride till top. No matter what the poor animals is going through.
These young guys who does strenuous workout in gym, pulling up weigh, and do many muscle development exercises only to show off. When they were tested in tough condition, they easily gives up. They are not ready to even walk for few kilometre. In my recent trip I have seen many such young youth climbing on top of pony rather then walking on foot. For them fun and enjoyment comes ahead of devotion. And these of their attitude is making pligrimiage location more of a tourist spot then any devotional places.
Why not they make their adventure by trekking down to top, the fun is there. Noone asked to climb in hurried way, even a simple small walks can make the trek fun. It took me 9 hr to reach to top, and thoroughly enjoyed it. Success at the expense of something are always satisfying. And I really experinced it!
Body building, strenous workouts for swag and to impress are the real power in today's youth. Comes the physical tests and they lag far behind. In contrast, I still found many mid age or older people happily manage to climb of their own. Such is the big differences between different generation. The real power lies in the mindset. If you make up the mind then nothing can hamper it. And todsys youth need more of such mindset rather than muculine physique.
Haha! I don't think that younger adults have quite the same level of stamina that we have when older. After many years of having to keep going we get better at it. I remember being surprised at my mum's stamina levels when I was younger. Now my daughter is surprised by mine.
You have more real power than most of us :) I must confess that I'm one of those who easily give up when walking and have to work on that. Youths of today are indeed less physically active. Quite alarming. That's probably the impact of technology and the new lifestyle in this digital era.
Well I didn't meant it about me...it was a normal observation finding other guy utilizing the help of animal while many people of older ages where easily walking...for sure such trip require g9od amount of practices and my daily 4 km walk at my home proved to be boon
I know you didn't mean it like that :) Even here in our place, most older people like to walk while the younger ones prefer to ride even when the distance is short. It's really nice that you walk 4 km a day. That's a healthy habit.
This might be social media influence as people are not taking out time for physical things and remain hooked to the mobile screen....but a little bit of physical activity really makes a vast difference in mental approach
This is a great feat, dear friend @steemflow, it's good that you achieved the goal.
I also believe that the difference is in the mind, and willpower, experience and years also count.
I appreciate you sharing this experience.
Have a beautiful morning
Thanks @jlufer our mind are the greatest power we have in us. If we are not mentally ready then even a easy job looks impossible....it is the mindset that defines the success and sometimes the physical body and physique have nothing to do....
Great job in completing all 22km by yourself!
It is an amazing feat especially when you're hiking upwards and not just trekking on level ground! 💪
It is a steep slope and requires a r3st every 10 step. High inclination always requir3 extra efforts and you can seebth3 knee cap I am putting up for the trek....at one moment I thought of giving up but some forces pulled me
Yeah 22km is no easy feat and definitely requires a lot of perseverance! 💪
The knee guard seems to do its job well in providing you with the support! 😁
Indeed a lot of us are getting weaker and weaker in things that would naturally make us vibrant and active. I remember when I was in school, I normally walk really long distance but then everyone around me said I was suffering meanwhile they were the one actually suffering.
The amount of time spent on social media might be one of the cause....I remember my elder brother is far more active ...looking at him I inspired to walk daily and ultimately manage to climb with ease.
You're right, that's one thing I've noticed among most of them, they want to get to their destination on time and also be able to be on their phone at the same time so it's best to take a vehicle.
You should do that, to keep fit and stay healthy.
I'm jealous! I hope to travel soon and take photos of the wilderness. ❤👌
Thinking is just of time...pack your bags and get set go.....and take me along as well...I am.planning for next

People have most certainly grown soft these past few years. It’s all a cycle though!
The other thing to keep in mind is fitness. Some of the younger people will spend all kinds of time at the gym sculpting and lifting weights but that is short lived energy and short muscle fibers. The people who have endurance have much different muscle configurations and allows them to do things for far longer. Hopefully you can get your nephew to become better physically active so he can do these things without having to need a ride.
Good job for you though to do 22km by yourself! That’s a great distance! A little over 13 miles I believe.
