By village market we mean the place where the people of the village come together for the purpose of buying and selling to meet their daily needs, that place is called village market. Gramya bazaar is very important for the village as it fulfills the needs of all the daily necessities of the villagers.

Village markets ends between morning and afternoon. Even when the market is over, the permanent shops remain open. Because they always help to meet the urgent needs of the villagers. This village market is still seen in most of the rural areas of Bangladesh.

There are two types of market, big market and small market.Village markets are defined depending on size and duration. The big bazaar usually starts from eight in the morning till nine to ten at night. Again the small markets run from eight in the morning to two in the afternoon. Some markets sit one or two or three days a week in the afternoon—called "haats."

Most village markets have a small number of permanent shops. Cloth shops, gold shops, grocery shops are the main among the permanent shops. They are open almost all day, but with the development of civilization and the change in taste, nowadays plastic shops, medical clinics, tea shops, restaurants, medicine shops can also be seen in village markets.

Village markets have the largest number of temporary shops. Some shops are in open fields, some in rows, some randomly. There are no rules for sitting like that.

In the village market, flour, rice, salt, oil, pulses, jaggery, fish, sweets, spices, etc are sold and bought from daily necessities to jewelry, clothes and even some luxury goods. Of course, besides these products, modern products such as various plastic products are also available.

Villagers are mostly agriculturists. They don't have cash. So they produce different things. For example: rice, jute, curry, vegetables etc. By selling these they buy other essential goods. Earlier they used rice to buy gourds or various essential items which can still be seen. Bargaining takes place between buyers and sellers in village markets.

Village market is very necessary and beneficial for the villagers. Here they can buy and sell goods at their convenience. Being close to the village market, the villagers do not have to travel to distant cities, thereby reducing the hardship and saving the cost of travel, which benefits them a lot. That is why the importance of village market is immense.

Although there are many advantages of rural market there are disadvantages but the disadvantages of rural market are very less compared to the advantages. Due to the large number of people gathering in rural markets, the environment there is polluted. In the absence of any rules and regulations, the market environment becomes polluted and unhygienic as villagers defecate, urinate, cough and spit. The sale of rotten and adulterated goods causes loss to the people.

These are great village markets. How convenient to have them and people don't have to go to the bigger towns. It saves them time and money - plus helps the local economy. They look like sizable markets. I am amazed that they don't have regulations for being a seller. That makes it easy if you just want to do it without cost.

It doesn't look like they lack anything. There is everything a person could need. Do they have a meat market there or a fish market?

Thank you for joining the challenge!

#MarketFriday began as a way to reach out across the globe and learn about different cultures through their markets, especially local markets and farmers' markets, and eventually branched out and evolved over time from straight shopping to a cultural affair as it highlights how we differ and then again, how much we are alike. We have become a melting pot of culture, but it is still the Rituals, Festivals, food, architecture, and even your language/languages that separate us... Along with the fact that these things are normal for us. There are unwritten rules that rule our social behaviors. I see this as allowing for increased tolerance between cultures and nations, and opportunities to come together on an even playing ground. A strong culture can be beneficial to a country as it promotes unity, especially during a crisis, peaceful debate, and open dialogue. I have learned so much about all of you and it has been an amazing experience. I can only hope that learning about each other can help us work together for a peaceful world. Thank you for being a part of #MarketFriday
