Nigeria market sells varieties of commodities. The market is always crowded with people who come to either buy or sell and some to just have a look and return. Usually those with rented portion build small huts around their places while sellers who are yet to rent a portion, position themselves in any suitable place with no roof on them.

Today I had taken a random tour around the market where I took a shot of some of the commodities sold in the Market. I noticed Onion and fresh pepper were imported in large quantity, this shows it's their time of harvest and in a period like this, they're always cheap because the supply is high.

Nigeria been a country where people engage in much trade,I had also taken shot of dry fish. They look attractive. Dry fish is costly at all time, whether in their season or not, maybe because most African women love using dry fish in making most of their local soup.

Rubber slippers are also sold for winter season as this. Its more safer for foot wears against water unlike the normal slipper palm. One God thing about this rubber wears is how light they are when wore and it duration. They are also cheap. They get much buyer in a period as this.

Thanks for taking us on a tour of the market! Those chilli peppers look good!

Thank you. Those are pepper farmed by the Hausa people

What I love about the post is your narrative. The pictures are informative and impressive, but your narrative gives me insight into the culture these pictures represent.

The best thing about Hive is not the spectacular photos (which yes catch my eye and entertain me) but this first-hand sharing of experience. No newspaper article or textbook could give me the sense of Nigerian culture as your blog does.

Thanks.

Am grateful you appreciate the narrative . Thank you for reading through

That is exactly why I started #MarketFriday! You will never see the culture as it is in a Fodor's Book when looking to visit a country. This is real and unedited.

I love it!

It's one of the best parts about Hive: no filter, just real people giving first hand experience. Someday, many years from now, this platform may be a prime source for historians trying to understand the events of our time. (I'm a history hobbyist, so I think in those terms).

This challenge has evolved into something that doesnt get enough attention for the people who post here, but, they know I appreciate them. They spend hours taking pictures and getting a post together, but I agree! What a piece of history.

Thanks for your suppirt to the post and the words of encouragement.

Everything about this post is awesome! You have captured the essence of what #MarketFriday is all about. It is about the people, the culture!

You have nailed exactly what I am looking for. Those onions lined all up, waiting for a stall, uncovered... These small details are what makes this so special, so decidedly a wonderful cultural affair. Not only are we sharing markets, but, we share what it is like to live where we are, what we love, how things are done. .. Even what things are called.

The dried fish is expensive in Nigeria, but, do you know that in Bangladesh, they are very inexpensive? It is amazing the things I have learned. To be fair, their fish are little and yours are big, that could be the difference. What a great way to keep fish good. I smoke mine and it lasts for a long time too. Not as long as yours, I am sure.

The peppers!!! So beautiful! So abundant~ Nigeria has a wonderful agricultural life. I cannot believe how fertile that land is! Food is so abundant! I have rubber shoes too!!! want to thank you for being a part of #MarketFriday! It really surprised me, but, also delights me to know how much effort people put into it. It shows off how much we are alike and how different life can be. In the end, it makes it an experience that I look forward to. I appreciate the love and support given to #MarketFriday! It Is heartwarming to see how many posts into the challenge, including you. Thank you! Truly! Your participation adds a unique flavor to the mix. This entire challenge has opened up the world to me and so many others. Thank you again for being a part of all this! It was lovely! I hope you have a wonderful weekend!
