Hello, Hivers! In today’s post I’ve decided to bring you with me to this amazing Christmas place called - Deutscher Weihnachtsmarkt Sofia. Every year just before Christmas this wonderful place opens its doors to its visitors. This year, due to anti-epidemic measures, there were guards at the entrances of the Christmas market to check people coming inside for certificates.

The Deutscher Weihnachtsmarkt Sofia is located on a not very large area and provides its visitors with the opportunity to enjoy traditional German dishes and drinks. In addition, the path you walk along passes by all the wooden houses, and each of them presents different products.

Among the things you can find at the Christmas bazaar are numerous and multi-coloured handmade Christmas and New Year toys and figurines. In addition, all sorts of traditional German dishes such as wursts with breadcrumbs and sauce are on offer for adults. The children's attention, on the other hand, was attracted by sweet delights such as the Churro - which is a pastry. The combination with Nutella was simply unique. And the price was only 5 BGN for a portion which will be enough for at least 2 people.

In one of the houses they were preparing chimneys smoked with various things. We couldn't try them because the queue was very big and we were already overwhelmed by Churro.

Each house had a name and it was in German. For example, Kaffeehaus offered different kinds of coffees and other kinds of drinks. A bonus with the coffee you could order a freshly baked donut with a different glaze.

A variety of meats and sausages were available in most of the houses. We got for takeaway and I can tell you we were extremely satisfied. The prices at the Christmas market were not low, but they were not very high either. One can decide exactly which one one wants to try.

There is also a stage in the centre of the Christmas market where different bands perform every night. Everything about this place adds to the Christmas spirit.

Happy New Year to you!! We made it to the other side! Thank you for posting on the #MarketFriday challenge. I know this is an especially busy time of year, so I am pleased that you took the time. To be honest with you, it touches my heart that it has continued for so long, and yet, almost every single person gives me something fresh and interesting. Many people really thought it would run its course of markets and end, but, everyone that participates has proven this theory wrong. With Christmas just past and New Year upon us, I wanted to take a moment to say thank you. Thank you so much for helping make this challenge a success. Without your help, it would be just another place to post. It is people like you that have given it a recognizable name. Thank you!

#MarketFriday began as a way to reach out across the globe and learn about different cultures through their markets, especially local markets and farmers markets and eventually branching out and evolving over time from straight shopping to a cultural affair as it highlights how we differ and then again, how much we are alike. We have become a melting pot of culture, but, it is still the Rituals, Festivals, food, architecture, even your language/languages that separate us... Along with the fact of what is these things are normal for us. There are unwritten rules that rule our social behaviors. I see this as allowing for increased tolerance between cultures and nations, and opportunities to come together on an even playing ground. A strong culture can be beneficial to a country as it promotes unity, especially during a crisis, peaceful debate, and open dialogue. I have learned so much about all of you and it has been an amazing experience. I can only hope that learning about each other can help us work together for a peaceful world.

Fridays are all about the #MarketFriday Challenge! Looking to take part in it? Here is how:
