RE: Market Friday, Firecrackers and Progressive Dinners

in Market Friday2 years ago

We used to play firecrackers alot when I was younger, back at Sibu hometown. Those firecrackers were so expensive. And if you got to buy it, neighbours would think you are rich. But Sibu people loved to save money to spend on firecrackers once a year for Chinese New Year, because they believed the loud noise could shoo away monsters of bad luck. So yup, it was a huge thing to spend on firecrackers. Like an honor to spend. But as we grew up, there were many accidents too so government banned some more dangerous and explosive firecrackers. Still, sellers got to sell them illegally, like underground. Oh well...

Here is my #marketfriday. 😁

Firecrackers are expensive, even now. They also probably doubled in price this year! I love how many firecrackers go off on Chinese New Year. It would be nice if the bad luck our world is having would go away. I would buy all the firecrackers I could!

I guess there are no stopping people that want to buy firecrackers. People always seem to find a way!

Thanks so much for stopping by and dropping your link!

Unfortunately, I think the firecrackers don't really help to shoo away bad luck. But there's no harm to put on hope. Love you back. <3

That is the wonderful thing about folklore or ancient beliefs. They offer hope, which is never axbad thing!
