For this week's post, I'd thought it would be nice reminisce the past a bit. I have after all been so busy with work because of year-end appraisals and reports that it seemed only fair to stop and look from above and outside the box. Thinking back my journey in Vietnam and how it started last year in March. So much has happened and how I have evolved both mentally & emotionally.

This is Dong Xuan street in Hanoi located amongst the famous ancient village of Hanoi. These streets in Hoan Kiem Lake have many small alleys and each brings a different experience all together. One can find many things being sold here and also get lost along the way too. No matter how many times I walk through these streets, I still get lost - lost because there are always something new if not something old 😆

This noodle stall is located along one of the famous alleys in Hoan Kiem Lake. Many would stop by and place their orders; either for dine in or take-away. It may not look very pleasant or clean but their business is overwhelming. This is how the local street markets are in Vietnam. One does not need to be under a sheltered concrete roof or a proper shop.. so long there's an empty space by the side of the streets, one would be able to put up a stall or a push-cart and start selling.

Some even improvise and use their motorbikes or bicycles as their store. A sight such as these is very common not only in the small towns but even in the big cities such as Hanoi or Saigon, this is very easily found. Many locals still prefer to buying from these sellers - it's simply because its cheaper and fresh but also a way to help the less fortunate. Not everyone can afford a store and since living can be hard for many.

This is the one tag and weekly challenge that I try to make a point to join; not to mention that I'm also a fanatic when it comes to sight seeing or shopping in any form of market - indoors, outdoors, food, textile, accessories and etc.

It is always interesting to see the different markets around the globe!
There's so many different cultures and beauty in this world and the more we travel and open up our eyes, the more we gain.

It's easy to participate :

  1. Go to the market! Any market will do! Food, Clothing, Plant or Animal, if you wish. You can go to the zoo or an art auction. Anywhere or anything that you pay money for a service.
  2. Take pictures! Be creative (or not)
  3. Tell us a little bit about the market, what brought you here?
  4. Post the picture(s)
  5. Don’t forget to hashtag it! #MarketFriday by @dswigle
  6. Minimum 250 words
