Well look at me, posting two days in a row. This could start to be a trend. I was going to re-enter Hive after a weird two-month absence with an explanatory post, but this is way more fun.
Happy Market Friday! I’ve missed you guys, and especially our charming host, @dswigle.
Last weekend I went to my first festival of the summer. And it’s not even summer yet! But the days are warm and pleasant and it’s so thrilling to be out and about.
This particular festival is called Art-a-Whirl, and it goes for three days in Northeast Minneapolis with multiple venues and events, and it’s pretty much impossible to see everything. It covers many city blocks and different buildings.
So what we did is to just focus on one area where we had a friend with a kiosk where she was selling her pottery. She had some truly lovely mugs and planters and small serving dishes.
I think she had a smart strategy! She knew people were going to be walking a lot and would be a long way from their vehicles and would be much more likely to purchase something small. It worked well. She was busy the whole time! My daughter and I brought her coffee and some food from the food truck, as there was no time for her to break away.
What a beautiful day! I had the most delicious Korean BBQ burrito from the food truck. Yummy!!
There was live music too. Actually I only saw one small stage, but I’m sure there were more.
They do something smart with this festival, which is to have local businesses host portions of the festival at their venues and in their parking lots.
The portion of the festival we visited was in the parking lot of an establishment called Buch (as in short for kombucha) and they sell hard kombucha seltzer. I tried a grapefruit ginger one. Wow was it delicious and refreshing!
Really cool place, with huge fermentation tanks and a taproom. (Pretty sure they have beer too, but I was so smitten by the kombucha I forgot to ask.)
The gal at the counter was darling and we had a fun chat. She was totally willing to pose for me. Of course I sent her the one she liked best from the set.
The walk back to the car was very pleasant. Minneapolis is really a darling city.
Okay just one more share. Besides kombucha, a food truck burrito, and an adorable handmade planter with a spider plant, I also bought an artisan loaf of garden focaccia.
Isn’t it gorgeous? We had it for dinner topped with some roasted tomato sauce I’d made, and some grilled sausage. A great end to a perfect spring day!
Thanks so much for reading!

Yes, @joanstewart! It totally was hard to cut into that focaccia. But I decided it really wanted to be eaten. 😄
Cannot let food go to waste.....
I just love that beautiful garden focaccia, I would not want to eat it, looks really lovely!
I know, right? Even though it is made to be eaten, it is really hard to cut into a work of art! We have made these at home before, so that made it a little easier. I know I can create another one when I'm feeling motivated!
Keep going on ,untill you will find the goal of last minute .
I love those kinds of markets, you dont know what you can find in there!
Yes, there's a little bit of everything!
Love the art piece at the shop..
Very eye catching, interesting and yet calming ✨
The garden foraccia is pretty too🥺✨
Thanks for stopping by, @seki1! Obviously I'm crazy behind on responding to things!
😂😂😂
No matter, at least you remembered to....
Most folks simply forget😂
The garden focaccia looks magnificent, I wouldn't want to eat. Or maybe I would after taking a dozen pictures like you did.
The Lady selling mugs and the other one at the counter look absolutely gorgeous and It's nice that they had you take a picture.
You must have enjoyed yourself a whole lot!🌸
Thanks for visiting, @jhymi. Yes, it was a lovely day, and a lot of fun. And it was very difficult to cut into the gorgeous focaccia!
What a great adventure, I really enjoy open air markets— the vibe is so energizing! Hard Kombucha... I have heard legends 🤣 I'm glad you had an enjoyable experience with it! Grapefruit-ginger anything is really stellar, I have a simple syrup I like make with that combo, makes for a banger Moscow Mule hehe! Thanks for sharing, it's nice to see you posting! 💚
Oooh! I need your recipe. That sounds incredible, @grindan! Let me know if you decide to write a post about it! I've decided I really need to write more posts about food and drink. It's something I love wholeheartedly, and it certainly never goes out of style.
You are back!!! So nice to see you again! You know how we love your adventures! They are always full of fun and food!! I'm in! How about some of that Lychee Lemongrass? You really do know how to live.
The Bucha barista (can we call her that?) was so adorable, how nice to send her a great shot! ❤️ The highlight really was that garden focaccia! What a beauty! I wouldn't want to eat it! So pretty and although I can make one, planting the garden on it would be a challenge!
Hello! Hello! You are the best!
#MarketFriday began as a way to reach out across the globe and learn about different cultures through their markets, especially local markets and farmers' markets, and eventually branched out and evolved over time from straight shopping to a cultural affair as it highlights how we differ and then again, how much we are alike. We have become a melting pot of culture, but it is still the Rituals, Festivals, food, architecture, and even your language/languages that separate us... Along with the fact that these things are normal for us. There are unwritten rules that rule our social behaviors. I see this as allowing for increased tolerance between cultures and nations, and opportunities to come together on an even playing ground. A strong culture can be beneficial to a country as it promotes unity, especially during a crisis, peaceful debate, and open dialogue. I have learned so much about all of you and it has been an amazing experience. I can only hope that learning about each other can help us work together for a peaceful world.
Thank you for being a part of #MarketFriday
Sorry for the delayed reply, @dswigle! Thank you, and yes it's wonderful to be back. Although, somehow several days have passed again without posting. What is UP with that? Where's the maid?! Ha ha. (I sorta get why people resort to AI. Geez.)
Thanks so much for stopping by and being so supportive as always!
