Traditional Food Items In The Market

Vegetable Shop

Yesterday I went to the traditional habra hat. This traditional hat offers a wide variety of food that is quite tasty to eat. Apart from traditional food, some raw vegetables, cooking tools, fish, and meat are also available in this market.

Structure of the market

Among the drinks and foods Tea and jilapi are famous here, several other dry food and pickle shops are a variation of the traditional habra hat. Entering the habra hat, you will find some duck vendors on the left side of the road and the famous tea shop on the right side.

If you go a little further, you will find a traditional Jilapi shop. The photo of the tea shop was not taken. I just took a picture of tea. However, the Jilapi of Habra Hut is always famous. Went to the market in the afternoon, so got some good pictures. Looking at pictures of shops and food is also calming. We three went to the market. I had a friend and an elder brother with me. We bought 100 grams of Jilapi and those were tasty.

Jilapi Shop

Jilapi (sweets)

The price of Jilapi in other markets is exactly the same here. But compared to other places the quality of jilapi here is better. Jilapi is a type of sweet snack that is popular in the Asian continent. The price of one hundred grams of Jilapi was 0.18 USD. After that, we had a cup of the famous tea from a shop. The price of tea here is equal to our other markets. A cup of tea costs 0.092 USD.

Most of the food stalls are located near the center of the market. Many traditional foods of Bengalis are available in these shops. I don't know the exact names of some foods. But I have tested the food many times. We alsp ate puri. Puri is a type of snacks made from flour, pulses etc. The prices of this hut are same as other hotels. One piece of puri costs 0.046 USD.

Among these traditional dishes, pickle, Chanachur, Potato papad, Jaggery dates, Almonds, and Jhalmuri(spicy puffed rice) are my favorite. I saw several items of pickles in the shops. Apart from this, guava, elderberry, and some seasonal fruits are available in these shops.

Dry Food Shop

Dry Foods

Dry foods are mostly homemade by shopkeepers. Besides, the food at Habra Hat is very cheap compared to other markets. Most variety of food is available here on market day. The market also has several fried food shops. My elder brother who came with me did the price of soybean oil and the price of soybean oil here was slightly lower than in other markets.

Various Food Shops

Now it is not possible to come to this market every day. Because the market is located a little bit far from my home and my friends are busy at work. I don't feel comfortable when I go alone in the market because I miss my friends. But since Thursday is the market day, so try to come to the market on this day of the week, then you can buy some delicious food for family or friends.

Traditional Fish Market

Almost every item in the traditional Hat has the passion, joy, and love of Bengalis. There is a special feeling to come and buy something from here, that cannot be found even when shopping in advanced shopping malls.

#MarketFriday loves you!

I like the setting of the markets and how items have been displayed.
These are some food items really different from everything I have known.

Yeah. This is a traditional hat in Bangladesh. And you can get a lot of fruits and foods from this market. Thank you.

You welcome... Thank you.

#MarketFriday began as a way to reach out across the globe and learn about different cultures through their markets, especially local markets and farmers' markets, and eventually branched out and evolved over time from straight shopping to a cultural affair as it highlights how we differ and then again, how much we are alike. We have become a melting pot of culture, but it is still the Rituals, Festivals, food, architecture, and even your language/languages that separate us... Along with the fact that these things are normal for us. There are unwritten rules that rule our social behaviors. I see this as allowing for increased tolerance between cultures and nations, and opportunities to come together on an even playing ground. A strong culture can be beneficial to a country as it promotes unity, especially during a crisis, peaceful debate, and open dialogue. I have learned so much about all of you and it has been an amazing experience. I can only hope that learning about each other can help us work together for a peaceful world.

Rules of the Road to Join #MarketFriday!

1.Go to any type of market, or anywhere where you pay money for a service. It can be a museum, a movie theatre, or an auction. Be creative!
