The good thing about versatile places like El Bolsón is that they have options for all tastes. If your desire is to go on long expeditions in the mountains, you can do that. If you prefer quiet days in front of the river, you can do that too. Or if you like to spend money on souvenirs for yourself or your family, you can do that too, without missing out on great scenery. This town charms all its visitors for all the things it offers to do, both in days full of adventure or in more relaxed ones. A good option for the latter type of activities is to visit the artisans' fair, held in the main square and with a great view during the tour ❤️.
Lo bueno que tienen los lugares versátiles como El Bolsón es que tienen opciones para todos los gustos. Si tu deseo es ir a hacer largas expediciones en las montañas, podes hacerlo. Si prefreris los días tranquilos frente al río, también podes hacerlo. O si te gusta gastar dinero en recuerdos para vos o tu familia, también podes hacerlo y sin perderte de un gran paisaje. Este pueblo enamora a todos sus visitantes por todas las cosas que ofrece para hacer, tanto en días cargados de aventura o en otros más relajados. Una buena opción para este último tipo de actividades es visitar la feria de los artesanos, llevada a cabo en la plaza principal y con una gran vista durante el recorrido ❤️.
After the whole situation with the mountain hostel, I had to look for another place to work where I liked the conditions better. Being on the way to the great Piltriquitrón Mountain was a privilege in terms of scenery, but a bit complicated to get around without a vehicle. Luckily, in my search I met the owners of another hostel who also needed a volunteer, and since I liked the hours and location better, I decided to work for them. In this new place I was only three blocks away from downtown, which allowed me to make better use of my free time to spend in the surroundings of El Bolsón 😃.
Después de toda la situación con el hostel de la montaña, tuve que buscar otro lugar para trabajar en donde las condiciones me gustaran más. Estar camino al gran Cerro Piltriquitrón era un privilegio en cuanto al paisaje, pero un poco complicado para moverse sin vehículo. Por suerte, en mi búsqueda me encontré con los dueños de otro hostel que también precisaban una voluntaria y como los horarios y la ubicación me gustaban más, decidí trabajar para ellos. En este nuevo lugar me encontraba a solo tres cuadras del centro, lo que me permitía aprovechar mejor mi tiempo libre para pasar en los alrededores de El Bolsón 😃.
A good walking option close to the new hostel was the artisans' fair at Plaza Pagano, the town's main square. This fair was held on Wednesdays and Saturdays and completely surrounded it. In this place many local artisans and many others passing through would gather, offering all the things they made. Most of them were handicrafts such as weavings, bookbinding, ornaments and handicrafts, but there were also stalls selling clothes, books and food. The days of the fair was when more people concentrated in the center of town, looking for some special souvenir ❣️.
Una buena opción de caminata cercana al nuevo hostel era la feria de los artesanos en la Plaza Pagano, la plaza principal del pueblo. Esta feria se llevaba a cabo los miércoles y sábados y la rodeaba por completo. En este lugar se reunían muchos artesanos locales y otros tantos de paso, ofreciendo todas las cosas que hacían. La mayoría de ellas eran artesanías como tejidos, encuadernaciones, adornos y manualidades, pero también habían puesto de venta de ropa, libros y comida. Los días de feria era cuando más gente se concentraba en el centro del pueblo, en busca de algún souvenir especial ❣️.
Although our Argentine economy is going through a difficult time, there is always a little bit left over to buy something that reminds us of the place where we are visiting. At the fair you could find things in all price ranges, so it was easy to adapt your budget. Probably the most popular items were macramé bracelets, which started at $1 for the cheapest ones. El Bolsón is called “the town of hippies”, so having some macramé handicrafts is almost mandatory 😅.
Si bien nuestra economía argentina está pasando un tiempo difícil, siempre hay algún restito para dedicar a comprar algo que nos recuerde al lugar en el que estamos de visita. En la feria se podían encontrar cosas de todos los precios, por lo que era fácil poder adaptar tu presupuesto. Probablemente lo que más se vendían eran pulseras de macramé, que arrancaban en $1 las más económicas. El Bolsón es llamado "el pueblo de los hippies", por lo que tener alguna artesanía de macramé es casi obligatorio 😅.
I liked to go to the fair and buy a few things to bring back as souvenirs for my loved ones. I would also buy souvenirs in a “solidarity” sense, as many of these artisans are other travelers like me looking to sustain their travels by selling the things they can produce. At first I had been a bit disgruntled about having to change hostels to work because the place I was in was beautiful, but the truth is that having the plaza and the center of town so close was very convenient. I lost count of the number of times I went to the fair, but it never stopped being a good option for an express tour 😅.
Me gustaba ir a la feria y comprar alguna que otra cosa para traer de recuerdo a mis seres queridos. También compraba recuerdos en un sentido "solidario", ya que muchos de estos artesanos son otros viajeros como yo que buscan sustentar sus viajes vendiendo las cosas que pueden producir. Al principio había renegado un poco por tener que cambiar de hostel para trabajar porque el lugar en el que estaba era hermoso, pero la verdad es que tener la plaza y el centro del pueblo tan cerca era muy cómodo. Perdí la cuenta de las veces que fui a la feria, pero nunca dejó de ser una buena opción de paseo express 😅.

I like this beautiful city more and more, and thanks to the beautiful photographs you show us of El Bolson, it is on my wish list of cities that I want to visit
The square where the artisan fair is held is truly beautiful, the mountainous view in the background captivates anyone.
It's true, the country's economy is critical, but I don't know how we Argentines do it, there are always a few extra pesos in our pockets.
I loved this fair, there are beautiful things to see and buy as a souvenir of the place
