For quite some time now in Argentina we have been going through a constant devaluation, to the point that I hardly know what is expensive and what is cheap. Coupled with actual inflation, I think there is strong speculation about future costs and everyone wants to hedge, so it looks like 'prices raises just in case'. Everyone is very aware of the price of the dollar, and every time it goes up, the prices of everything go up. Sadly we are getting used to this situation, so we are no longer surprised when from one week to the next everything is a little more expensive 😶.
Hace bastante tiempo que en Argentina venimos atravesando una constante devaluación, a tal punto que ya casi que no sé lo que es caro y lo que es barato. Sumado a la inflación real, creo que existe una fuerte especulación sobre los precios futuros y todos se quieren proteger, por lo que pareciera que hay 'aumentos por las dudas'. Todos están muy pendientes al precio del dólar, y cada vez que este sube, suben los precios de todo. Tristemente estamos acostumbrandonos a esta situación, así que ya no nos sorprendemos cuando de una semana a la otra todo sale un poco más caro 😶.
This morning my mom and I left early to do some paperwork and we finished just in time to go get some breakfast. I like to eat out, but it's mainly dinner so I had no idea about breakfast prices. The city center has many gastronomic options, of all prices and tastes, so we chose one that we had already visited on another occasion at night. This place has a fairly spacious room, well lit and with comfortable seats, so it is worth staying here for a while 😃.
Esta mañana mi mamá y yo salimos temprano a hacer unos trámites y terminamos justo a tiempo para ir a desayunar algo. Me gusta salir a comer, pero principalmente son cenas así que no tenía mucha idea de los precios de los desayunos. El centro de la ciudad tiene muchas opciones gastronómicas, de todos los precios y gustos, así que elegimos uno que ya había visitado en otra oportunidad a la noche. Este lugar tiene un salón bastante amplio, bien iluminado y con asientos cómodos, así que vale la pena quedarse acá un buen rato 😃.
All restaurants have adopted digital menus for a long time, so you can see everything from your cell phone. What I didn't think was very good is that this place doesn't have free Wi-Fi, so if you don't have mobile internet you don't see anything 😅. Luckily we both had so no problems with that. On the menu there were several breakfast and snack options that ranged from 1,350 to 2,700 ARS and for those prices you could get food and drinks such as coffee with milk, infusions, juices, croissants, toast or cookies 😃.
Hace rato que todos los restaurantes han adoptado los menúes digitales, así que todo lo puedes ver desde tu celular. Lo que no me pareció muy bueno es que este lugar no tenga wifi libre, por lo que si no tenes internet móvil te quedas sin ver nada 😅. Por suerte ambas teníamos así que no hubo problemas con eso. En la carta habían varias opciones de desayunos y meriendas que variaban desde 1350 a 2700 ARS y por esos precios podías obtener comida y bebida como café con leche, infusiones, jugos, medialunas, tostadas o galletitas 😃.
My criteria for deciding on food in a restaurant is to opt for something outside of what I eat at home, so this time I chose a fairly heavy breakfast that included coffee with milk, toast with butter, croissants with ham and cheese, squeezed orange juice and soda. All of that cost me 2,200 ARS, while my mom only consumed a toast and a coffee for 2,190 ARS. I think I did a better deal with her for everything I ordered, but she prefers crumb toast so she didn't care about the price 😅.
Mi criterio para decidirme por comida en algún restaurante es optar por algo fuera de lo que como en casa, así que esta vez elegí un desayuno bastante cargado que incluía café con leche, tostadas con manteca, medialunas con jamón y queso, jugo de naranja exprimido y soda. Todo eso me costó 2200 ARS, mientras que mi mamá solo consumió un tostado y un café por 2190 ARS. Creo que yo hice un mejor negocio con ella por todo lo que pedí, pero ella prefiere los tostados de miga asi que no le importó el precio 😅.
With the recent increase in the price of the dollar, the change is 1 for 580 ARS. With this value, my super complete breakfast cost 3.8 USD and my mom's too. In total we spent 4390 ARS, about 7.6 USD. Looking at it like this, it may seem cheap, but the problem is that in Argentina most people don't earn in dollars, so even with these prices, it can be a bit expensive. To give you an idea, the average payment for an hour of work in an informal job is 1000 ARS (1.7 USD), so an unregistered worker would have to work more than two hours to pay for a breakfast like this. Con el reciente aumento de precio del dólar, el cambio es 1 por 580 ARS. Con este valor, mi desayuno súper completo costó 3.8 USD y el de mi mamá también. En total gastamos 4390 ARS, unos 7.6 USD. Viéndolo así, puede parecer barato, pero el problema es que en Argentina el común de la gente no gana en dólares, así que incluso con estos precios, puede resultar un poco costoso. Para que se den una idea, el promedio de pago por una hora de trabajo en un empleo informal es de 1000 ARS (1.7 USD), por lo que un trabajador no registrado debería trabajar más de dos horas para pagar un desayuno como este. ¿Cómo es la situación en tu país? ¿Te parecen bien estos precios por un desayuno? ¿Y por una hora de trabajo?
Regarding my personal economy, I don't mind paying for a breakfast at this price because I value more having shared the time with my mom eating something delicious. Also, I don't eat breakfast away from home all the time, so it seems like a good option for a walk. If I ever come to this place again, I will compare the prices with today's date to see how the situation progresses. Sadly, prices increase all the time and at a lower rate than salaries, so taking care of the budget is very important, but as long as we can go for a walk and clear our heads, it will be fine 😶.
En cuanto a mi economía personal, no me molesta pagar por un desayuno a este precio porque valoro más haber compartido el tiempo con mi mamá comiendo algo delicioso. Además, no desayuno fuera de casa todo el tiempo, así que me parece una buena opción de paseo. Si alguna vez vuelvo a venir a este lugar, compraré los precios con la fecha de hoy para ver como avanza la situación. Tristemente, los precios aumentan todo el tiempo y a un ritmo menor que los sueldos por lo que cuidar el presupuesto es muy importante, pero mientras podamos salir a pasear un poco y despejarnos, lo haremos 😶.

Well dearest @lauramica, apart from the fact that I hardly ever eat breakfast outside, but here in Italy a breakfast like that might cost 12 to 15€ which in usd would be $13 to $16.
Much more expensive than yours, but here the cost of living is quite high and salaries cover expenses at most.
Because of this situation, in order to make ends meet, you need both family members to be working.
Well, I'm afraid that the prices in this publication have already become obsolete... this weekend in Argentina we had preliminary presidential elections and that made the price of the dollar increase by more than 100 ARS in less than 24 hours... I'm worried my country and where we will end up... here I think even the children have to work to cover basic expenses 😂.
