Fluvial Float Parade and Lunch for #MarketFriday #BeautifulSunday #SublimeSunday

in Market Fridaylast year

#MarketFriday is hosted by @dswigle, #BeautifulSunday by @ace108 and #SublimeSunday by @c0ff33a.

I am still in Flower Festival mood and visiting as many activities as I can. For those who want to visit Baguio City, this weekend will be the most awaited event for this Panagbenga 2023 - Grand Street Parade and Float Parade with street dancing.

As part of this yearly festival, Burnham Lake is yet again my focus of attention this day because of the Fluvial Float Parade.

This is a video I made.

I am in the process of growing my account YouTube. Please feel free to visit. Subscribe to my channel too. Thanks!

The schedule of event was at 10:00 a.m. We made it a few minutes after just in time to see boat floats being presented. There were 12 floats this year and the theme was based on Philippine folklore.

When we got to the park, the lake was already surrounded by spectators. The crowd was not that much though which is fine because we can still see everything so we went around the lake taking photos and videos. I was expecting more crowd though.

The emcee was describing what the entries were all about but honestly, it was hard to focus. I was juggling between taking photos and videos and concentrating more on getting decent enough shots.

It was a cloudy day and gloomy day threatening to rain but the floats bedecked with colorful flowers together with their muses and rowers made the lake beautiful and colorful. It is a contrast from the sky above.

This last swan boat is the city's entry for this year, not as a participant to be judged but rather as a symbolic one. The owners of these swan boats made national news when four of them were used to rescue people from the flood back in 2020 when the province of Cagayan suffered devastatingly from a storm. While swan boats are pretty boats for hire at the lake, they also symbolize humanity.

I really appreciate the creativity, time and effort put into these floats.

From the park, we then took a cab to go for lunch near the communal forest which is located in the town next to the city, about a 15-minute ride. We were planning to go for a walk there later on.

We ordered Lechon Kawali at PHP498.00 and garlic rice platter at PHP160.00.

I have been to the restaurant before but we ordered other food so I am not aware of the portion of rice serving they have. It was my partner's first time there. We were both surprised, therefore, when our order arrived.

We thought there were about 3 cups of rice but the serving we had is more than that for sure. This is good for 4-5 people. We managed to finish all that but we took our time.

Here in the city and neighboring towns, it's always wise to ask how big or small the portion of rice serving they have. Some say 2-3 but in reality it is more than that. Not only with rice but food in general.

The lechon kawali was a bit salty for me but I like how soft the meat is.

I like these wooden vehicles on display. I haven't seen these ones last time we were there. I find them catchy.

With full stomachs, we then checked out from the restaurant and set foot to go to the trail.

Unfortunately, we were not even halfway through the trail when it started to drizzle so we had to cut short our walk and went home. By the time we got home, it rained. Lucky, I guess.

Thanks again for dropping by. Hope you are having a wonderful weekend. Cheers!

Indeed. I think it's the swans that are the most appealing boats of all.
