My first MarketFriday post - Balalajka Orosz Bisztró in Szolnok, Hungary (2021.05.28)

Hello.

This is my first post for #MarketFriday by @dswigle.

Today I visited Balalajka Orosz Bisztró in Szolnok, Hungary.

Balalajka means Balalaika, which is a Russian stringed instrument, and "Orosz Bisztró" means "Russian Bistro".

A sign at the corner of the street is showing that the entrance of the bistro is 30 meters away

A desk inside the bistro. Since you have to be vaccinated against COVID-19 to eat inside, I could not eat inside, because I am not vaccinated. Of course I saw people eating inside. Both staff and customers. The staff can speak both Russian and Hungarian. They are very nice and kind.

Some kind of plate on the wall.

I ordered some roasted aubergine rolls with cheese and garlic inside of it, and I took it outside, sat down on a bench, and ate it

It was cold, but delicious and spicy

They served it cold. I do not know if it is supposed to be cold though.

It was delicious and spicy, and this was the first time I tried Russian food.

It was 990 HUF, which is currently $3.47 USD.
$1 USD is currently 285.320 HUF.

This is rather expensive in Hungary, because I could get a complete lunch in Hungarian restaurants for this price, and there are Chinese restaurants too in the city (Szolnok), where you can get a menu for even a cheaper price.

I do remember that a lot of the meals were well-priced outside of Budapest. And always tasty. Most of the recipes that I looked at for them were served warm, but, there is a lot of food that I like hot or cold, so I can see why you still liked it.

Many of the Hungarian and Chinese foods I eat are also warm or hot, but I also eat many cold foods. It was interesting to try Russian food for the first time.

I have some foods I will eat either way, but, for the most part, especially if I am eating out, I like it hot from the kitchen. I haven't eaten out in over a year.
