I agree, with one proviso: full disclosure. My experience is there is little understanding about the implications of such consent. A comprehensive discussion about the potential for residual (or actual) awareness should take place. A full discussion about the fact that the person may not actually be dead when the brain is extracted. I read research papers which acknowledge the removal of the organ itself may be lethal. That's the word used. Death occurred because and organ was removed. Many people don't realize this when they consent to organ donation. There are people who would consent to such a procedure. I would, for a friend or family. Not for the medical community.
