Hi friends, I'm stopping by to share an experience I had on one of the most interesting hikes along the Gulpilhares riverbank. This is actually one of the few freshwater ecosystems found throughout this area, for dozens of kilometers. It caught my attention because during the walk along the riverbank, I saw two ecomuseums where I'll stop to learn about the importance of preserving these ecosystems! Hola amigos me paso por aqui para compartir una experiencia que tuve en una de las caminatas mas interesantes de la ribera de Gulpilhares en realidad este es uno de los pocos ecosistemas de agua dulce que se encuentran por toda esta zona a decenas de kilometros, y capto mi atencion porque durante la caminata por la ribera vi dos ecomuseos donde me detendre para aprender sobre la importancia que tiene preservar estos ecosistemas! por tanto acompaname en este viaje al conocimiento.📕🚩

There is no fresh water for how many kilometers?🧭👨🏻‍🏫/No hay agua dulce a cuantos kilometros?🌍✍🏻

I was investigating to show you the great impact that this riverbank has within the Gulpilhares ecosystem because there is no other body of fresh water in the area and the closest is 74km away, and this demonstrates why there are key species inhabiting these waters and why the municipal chamber is making a great effort to preserve and avoid local pollution. In my opinion, these two kilometers of river extension are a small lung for the inhabitants of "Gaia".🚩🚙📕

Estuve investigando para mostrarte el gran impacto que tiene dentro del ecosistema de Gulpilhares esta ribera porque no hay otro cuerpo de agua dulce por la zona y el mas proximo esta a 74km, y esto demuestra el porque hay especies claves habitando estas aguas y porque la camara municipal esta haciendo mucho esfuerzo para preservar y evitar la contaminacion local, a mi parecer estos dos kilometros de extension del rio son un pequeno pulmon hacia los habitantes de "Gaia".⛺🌄

The walk is signposted and is an official trail created by the Gaia Ministry of the Environment, which promotes the relationship between man and nature. With the construction of museums, the little ones in the area can be educated and school projects are encouraged where groups of primary school children can visit the museums and some environmental professionals teach them what animals and plants live in the river and why it is important to take care of them. In addition to not throwing any type of garbage into the water, of course, at a landscape level, the small riverbank gives that special touch and makes the city more beautiful.📕🚙🚩

La caminata esta senalizada y es un sendero oficial creado por el ministerio de ambiente de Gaia, el cual impulsa la relacion: hombre-naturaleza, con la construccion de museos se puede educar a los mas pequenos de la zona y se incentivan proyectos escolares donde grupos de ninos de la escuela basica pueden visitar los museos y algunos profesionales ambientales le ensenan que animales y plantas habitan en el rio y porque es importante cuidarlos, ademas de no tirar basura de ningun tipo al agua, por supuesto que a nivel paisajistico la pequena ribera da ese toque especial y hace de la ciudad mas bonita.👨🏻‍🔬🧑🏻👧🏻

It is important to highlight that the definition of a riverbank: is practically the shore of the (sea) that is why the correlation that exists here is a little different, firstly the freshwater river flows into the Atlantic and is formed by a set of rivers that come from the north of the country, as it passes through several cities for tens of kilometers they become more and more polluted to the point that when they reach: Gulpilhares there are few animals that manage to adapt, they call it a riverbank because this river is literally less than a kilometer from the beach (see first image), however fresh and salt water are only found at the end of the river. It is a unique ecosystem.🚩🚙📕

Es importante destacar que la definicion de una ribera: es practicamente la orilla del (mar) por eso la corelacion que existe aqui es un poco diferente, primeramente el rio de agua dulce desemboca en el atlantico y se forma de un conjunto de rios que vienen del norte del pais, como pasa por varias ciudades descenas de kilometros cada vez se van contaminando mas hasta el punto que cuando llegan a: Gulpilhares son pocos los animales que consiguen adaptarse, le llaman ribera porque este rio esta literalmente a menos de un kilometro de la playa (ver primera imagen), sin embargo solo se encuentran el agua dulce y salada al final del rio. Es un ecosistema unico.🌄⛺✍🏻

Another important fact worth sharing with you, and one that proves our riverbank is essential, is this photo, where we see the same river divided into a small secondary river a little further north. I took it upon myself to visit this area, and what do you think... It's dry! There's no river left, and this tells me why the Gaia municipal council is making such an effort to preserve it, since if it disappears, nothing will remain of the Gulpilhares River.👨🏻‍🏫🤓

Otro dato importante que merece traerlo para ustedes y que demuestran que nuestra ribera es primordial es esta foto donde vemos el mismo rio que se dividio en un pequeno rio secundario un poco mas hacia el norte, me di la tarea de acercarme a esta zona y que creen... Esta seco! no existe rio ninguno y esto me indica porque la camara municipal de Gaia esta haciendo tanto esfuerzo en preservar este ya que al desaparecer no quedara nada del rio Gulpilhares.📕🌄

What led the population of Gulpilhares to be able to settle near the sea is thanks to all the resources it has or had to offer its inhabitants. In the 1930s and 1950s, whale hunting was quite important for the local economy, as well as fishing and other activities. To this day, many fishermen still engage in this activity and it is what they live and eat from. However, the Ministry of the Environment promotes the preservation of many species and with the creation of museums and trails, the place, along with the beach, is becoming increasingly touristy.✍🏻🚩

Lo que llevo a que la poblacion de Gulpilhares se pudiera establecer cerca del mar es gracias a todos los recursos que tiene o tenia para ofrecerles a los habitantes, en la decada de entre los 30-50 la caza de ballena era bastante importante para la economia local, asi como la pesca y otras actividades, hasta el dia de hoy muchos pescadores aun se dedican a esta actividad y es de lo que viven y comen, sin embargo el ministerio de ambiente impulsa la preservacion de muchas especies y con la creacion de museos y veredas el lugar junto con la playa se hace cada vez mas turistico.👨🏻‍🏫🤓

Inside the ecomuseum, we'll be able to photograph and admire animals, as well as learn about several species of animals, mostly aquatic, extracted from rivers and the sea. Each aquarium recreates an ecosystem where these animals and plants would normally live. They also showcase ecosystems from tropical countries. I highly recommend visiting them.👨🏻‍🔬🧑🏻👧🏻🤓

Dentro del ecomuseo vamos a poder fotografiar y admirar asi como aprender sobre varias especies de animales en su mayoria acuaticos que fueron extraidos del rio y del mar, cada acuario recrea un ecosistema donde normalmente habitarian estos animales y plantas, tambien nos muestran ecosistemas de paises tropicales.
