The definition of death is not a matter of science, or morality. It is a matter of convenience. We want those body parts. Death is an inconvenient detail.
One reason I've never considered organ donation!
I'd consider myself pretty unshockable, but this is appalling. Terrifying even. The arrogance of pretending we fully understand consciousness or death itself is staggering.
It's a nice idea in the abstract. Unfortunately, there is very little altruism in the business...because it is a business. No donor card for me.
And yes, appalling. Definitely terrifying. Imagine being trapped in one of their brain boxes. What's next? Where is the line between respect for decency, and respect for life? There is no line.
