The rate of death-related medical misdiagnoses and mistakes in our country is scary. I lost my dad recently in a very painful way via a simple medical procedures. Medical folks in Nigeria get away with atrocities too easily. Yes, the system has its own problems, but individuals make it far worse!
I'm not just the type that ferment troubles, otherwise, the entire oauthc complex should be on lockdown by now.
@gentleshaid My condolences for your loss. I fear losing my loved ones too, and I can’t imagine having to lose them under those circumstances.
As regards medical misdiagnosis, it’s not unique to our country, but how it is addressed afterwards is what makes all the difference.
From my knowledge of the UK, they do not try to hide the fact that a mistake has been made, and they also try to manage the error. After that, steps are taken to prevent similar errors from happening in the future.
If a doctor who made the error was making too many errors, or if doctors in a certain hospital were making frequent errors, either situation would be addressed.
Errors are a human thing and often reveal other underlying problems that need to be addressed.
Misdiagnosis is on one hand, negligence is on the other. NEvertheless, we pray we don't become a victim of any.
Yes oh, even me wey dey the system dey pray.
There was a story of a consultant passing away I heard of. The man was crying and saying what was wrong with him and what they should do but they couldn't carry out his orders quickly enough.
It's like getting eaten up alive.
