RE: Rusting of Iron & Its Effects, Conditions Necessary for Rusting To Occur

in StemSocial21 days ago

Rusting of iron happens when iron reacts with oxygen and moisture, forming reddish-brown flakes called rust. It weakens structures, making metals brittle and unsafe. From my experience, I found a detailed explanation at Stanford Advanced Materials which helped me understand that rusting needs water and air to occur. Protecting iron from these conditions can prevent damage and extend its life.
