CERN loses 500 scientists

Souce

CERN will expel scientists from Russia and Belarus, in total it is believed that the expulsion will affect about 500 Russian scientists and that expulsion will be completed this month on November 30, it is the last day.

The news talks about a Russian scientist named Andrey Serov, he is 34 years old, he said "we are not leaving CERN, they are kicking us out" Andrey has been working for 10 years in the Ultra High Energy Physics Laboratory at the State University of Saint Petersburg Among other things, he studied the formation of matter after the Big Bang and has traveled to the Large Drone Collider located between France and Switzerland.

The state university of Saint Petersburg did not renew the contract with the physicist this year and CERN, since it has had this agreement to refuse to work with all scientists from Russian and Belarusian institutes, the deadline is this November 30, it will directly affect 500 scientists, but they say that it may even affect 1000, according to this Serov researcher.

CERN is a European organization in its French acronym of European Organization for Nuclear Research, it is made up of 22 countries. Russia was an observer member, as were the United States and Japan, but in 2022 with the invasion of Ukraine, Ukraine is an associate member. Since 2016, relations with Russia and Belarus were broken.

CERN investigates from the origin of the universe to the properties of the quantum world and the discoveries that can be made there are vital not only in the development of new technologies but also can trigger a new technological revolution, taking into account that the era of electronics in which we live is the era of a technological revolution that is based on the mastery of a subatomic particle the electron, imagining that we could master the properties of the graviton, for example, gravity, imagining what could be done if we managed to master gravity would be another Technological revolution, but for all this thousands of minds are needed working together and unfortunately now we are going to lose 500.

The War in Ukraine is something terrible but in my opinion science should be above that, the example of the Greeks, the Greeks with city states were killing each other every now and then, but they had certain key dates and certain rites, such as the Olympics where they established peace and then they competed among themselves in a peaceful way or they performed sacred rites in a peaceful way, that is, they knew how to separate one thing from another and I believe that science in this era should be separated from political issues and military conflicts because if we are not going to go wrong at the moment we will lose 500 privileged minds who could be working at CERN, it is my personal opinion.

I think they should be something different and separate, keeping in mind that the CERN projects are not for 4 years as is usually the mandate of a politician, but for 40 years, they are very long-term works and with a perspective that can change the world with the discoveries made in it.
