What is curious is that it orbits the sun very quickly in just 128 days. In fact, it is the second fastest known asteroid. Why is it called ghost or atheno? because it is a rare type of asteroid that crosses the orbit of Mercury, so it would be a danger to Mercury in any case, and it also reaches the orbit of Venus, it does not reach that far from the Sun.
We have practically discovered almost all asteroids over 1 km in diameter, Asteroids, because comets, as I always remember, there are billions of them and at any moment a new one can come from the Oort cloud and cause displeasure, but we have more or less controlled the asteroids, all those over 1 km in diameter, and we know that none of them are a danger to the Earth in the next 100 years and according to the latest calculations in the next 200 years.
The calculations are improving because computers are becoming more powerful and allow operations and calculations to be carried out with more reliability, which have some slight point of risk, we are talking about asteroids of a few hundred meters, not 1 km, but we still have to discover some of more than 1 km that may be in that area where this one that has been discovered now is located, in that area of solar glare, in that area that is close to the sun, in that area where it would be orbiting, between the orbits of Venus and Mercury.
There may still be some asteroid with a diameter of more than 1 kilometer that has not been discovered. It would also be very bad luck that those few that remain to be discovered, which I don't think are more than half a dozen, I suppose are a risk for the Earth. That area remains to be explored and explored and now one with a diameter of 700 m has been discovered.
A curious thing that I have thought is that when something could destroy the planet we will know from Chile, because 3I/Atlas has been discovered by an observatory from Chile and also by a lot of them.
