Greetings to all and sundry,
It is a beautiful day today and an excellent opportunity to learn and share in the wonders and beauty of science, technology, and healthcare. It's been quite a while, I wasn't feeling so well lately however things are better now, so as usual I am here to advocate for ocular health.

Today I will be talking about a condition of the eye, which is not so common nowadays, thanks to growth, development, personal hygiene, and the lot. I hope that you enjoy the read and that you learn a thing or two from it.
Misdirected Eyelashes
Trichiasis is a condition of the eyelashes such that although the lid is in a normal position as it ought to be, the lashes are turned inwards towards the eyeball, thus causing it to rub the cornea and the other anterior part of the eyeball. Trichiasis may initially seem like a harmless situation with just the lashes turning away however as this continues to persist the effect is damaging.
The cornea is one of the most sensitive organs within the human body and any damage to it when not dealt with well could result in a loss in its transparency which in turn would result in loss of vision. The misdirected lashes tend to rub against the cornea causing damage to it, as this persists, the integrity of the cornea gets compromised with bruises and ulcers which in a lot of cases result in scaring and damage to vision.

When one has trichiasis, they tend to have a foreign body feel on the eye all the time, they always feel like there is something on the eye, they tend to tear a lot due to the sensation, and may also experience pain since the cornea is highly sensitive. This may happen after having had other conditions of the eye such as blepharitis, hordeolum, style, trachoma, etc.
Now what you ought to know is that these signs and symptoms as I have described also apply to other conditions of the eye and so self-diagnosis is not an option here, when you experience any of these with your eye, please do well to visit your Optometrist for diagnosis and care should you experience any of these symptoms.
If it so happens that what you have is trichiasis then it may warrant epilation or removal of your offending lashes to protect your cornea from damage, a minor surgical procedure may also be performed for you if a greater percentage of your lashes are misdirected.
Conclusion
Always remember that your health is your wealth and that your sight is crucial to your enjoying this thing called life, thus you must pay particular attention to it and do everything in your power to ensure that you do right by it. And so do well to have regular eye exams and when you are in doubt always consult a professional.

Kindly avoid the use of over-the-counter medication without proper care and diagnosis, avoid the use of herbal preparations on the eye, and ensure that you have an eye exam at least twice every year. It is a pleasure serving you again today, thanks for your time.
