I recently watched a video on Instagram where a parent of a young child was crying out and calling out to the government for assistance, they did this because according to them, they had taken their little one for immunization as advised by a medical expert, and the moment the vaccine was administered on the little girl, she had seizures and since then has been unable to speak or walk.
This is a scary story, especially for a first-time Mum like me, so many parents in the comment section showed concern and were worried about what could be the issue. Could it be a case of an expired vaccine or improper administration, I was too worried for the little girl, and the parents who are victims of this unfortunate situation.

I was able to find out that vaccines just like medications, have their side effects, mainly for minors. Generally, fever is a constant one that would usually go away within just a few days. Regardless of the risk, this is no reason to decide not to immunize your child, failure to immunize them puts your child at a serious risk of contracting a deadly disease, and they can also spread this contracted disease to others who come in contact with them.
Let's check out some compulsory vaccines available in medical centers and the side effects associated with each of them;
DTaP vaccine creates soreness or swelling at the site of the shot, creating fussiness, fever, tired feeling, loss of appetite, and vomiting. It could however create a more serious reaction like seizures, or consistent crying that may last for 3 hours or even more. DTap vaccination is rare and on very few occasions, the swelling of the entire arm or leg also happens, this is more common amongst older children though, when they get their fourth or fifth dose.
Hepatitis A Vaccine creates redness or soreness after the shot has been administered creating an episode of headache, fever, tiredness, and loss of appetite. There have been reported cases of people fainting after a medical procedure and this includes vaccination too.
Hepatitis B Vaccine produces a feeling of soreness where the shot i given, producing headache, and fatigue.
Haemophilus influenzae type b (Hib) Vaccine creates a red, warm, and swelling result when the shot has been given, fever can happen after Hib vaccination.
Human Papillomavirus Vaccine (HPV) could bring about redness, soreness, or swelling where the shot has been given. Fever or headache is also a possibility.

Influenza (inactivated) vaccine may produce swelling, soreness, or redness at the sight of the shot. Muscle aches and headaches can happen after the vaccination has been given.
Little children who get the flu shot alongside the pneumococcal conjugate vaccine may likely get seizures that are caused by the fever.
Influenza (live) vaccine may cause nasal congestion or runny nose, headache, and wheezing. Other possible side effects are; sore throat, muscle aches, vomiting, and cough.
MMR (Measles, Mumps, and Rubella)Vaccine creates a sore arm from the injection or redness where the shot has been given. Fever and a mild rash can also be an after-effect of MMR vaccination.
If rashes develop after MMRV vaccination, it could be related to a case of measles or varicella component of the vaccine, where it gets to spread to an unprotected individual. Anyone with a rash should stay away from infants and other people who have a weak immune system.
The glands in the cheeks or neck can swell temporarily causing pain and stiffness in the joints. There is also a rare case of serious reaction, it will bring about seizures, or temporary low platelet count that may cause unusual bleeding or bruising.
For those who have problems with their immune system, the vaccine may cause a serious infection that could be life-threatening, so it is advised that people who have serious problems with their immune system should avoid getting an MMR vaccine.
Meningococcal vaccines could produce soreness or redness at the point when the shot is being given, on rare occasions, muscle pain, tiredness, or headache is also very possible.
Pneumococcal Conjugate Vaccine (PCV) can cause pain, swelling, redness, or tenderness at the point where the shot has been administered. Young children stand the chance of experiencing seizures when the vaccine is administered after a pneumococcal conjugate vaccine.
Rabies Vaccine may cause redness, swelling, or itching at the sight of injection. Nausea, abdominal pain, dizziness, and muscle aches can happen after the administration of the rabies vaccine.
Yellow Fever Vaccine may create redness, soreness, and fever on a few occasions. Sometimes, people faint after a medical procedure, and this includes vaccination as well.
Typhoid Vaccine could also contribute to pain, swelling, or redness. General comfort, fever, and headache can also happen after the vaccine has been taken.
Conclusion.
Yes, vaccination may go wrong on very rare occasions, immunization comes with some sort of complications, but that is not a reason not to get your child immunized, failure to get them immunized is even more dangerous than you can think of.
Get them immunized, but of course, in a proper setting with good staff and proper government regulation. I like to pray before taking my child for immunization, protecting him through prayers from every form of human error, so if you believe in God, you could do the same.
