The first robot to live in the home.

Souce

The 1X technology company based in Palo Alto and backed by big names in robotics has just opened the pre-sale of the Neo 1X, the first humanoid robot really designed to live inside the home, helping, learning and in a certain way taking care of us.

The Neo 1X measures 1.67 cm tall, weighs 30 kg and moves with silent agility thanks to torque motors connected to artificial tendons, climbs stairs, recognizes objects, responds to voice commands and is capable of executing tasks, organizing spaces, carrying clothes, serving coffee.

His vision comes from two 8 megapixel cameras, his hearing from four microphones and his hands have 22º of freedom, approaching human dexterity; You can lift up to 70 kg and carry 25 kg while walking, but the most impressive thing is in the “mind” of this robor, Neo 1X was created to learn continuously, this means that the longer you live with a family, the more you will understand their routine, properties and preferences

As time goes by and with software updates it will become an increasingly proactive assistant, only this intelligence comes at a price, to teach the robot to work autonomously, 1X humans will be able to take control by seeing everything through their camera and guiding their actions until the learning is complete, that is, someone from a company could see part of your house, although with the people blurred and with restricted areas configured in the application.

And that's where the dream of home automation meets the discomfort of reality; Privacy, digital security, and machine autonomy take on new meaning when a robot sleeps right outside your room. Neo 1X works for 4 hours before searching for its charging base by itself, emitting only 22 decibels, it is quieter than a refrigerator.

It has a soft structure, covered with washable fabric, a familiar touch for something so technological, it is available for pre-order in the United States, $20,000 in cash or $499 per month, with a launch planned for 2026, in other countries only from 2027.

We are facing a historical milestone, the world's first domestic humanoid is arriving, but would you accept that a machine walked through your living room while you sleep, would you allow it to learn who you are and everything you do, everything has a price and I'm not talking about money, the price of having technology at home, at least at the beginning, is losing part of your privacy.

Sorry for my Ingles, it's not my main language. The images were taken from the sources used or were created with artificial intelligence

I don't think I would want a humanoid robot in my home. Not now, not in the future.
