Hello guys! I hope you all doing great.
So I decided to blog on " changing the RAM of a computer" because RAM fault has become a very common fault of a computer.

Like I use to do, this blog will be divided into subsections.

WHAT IS A RAM?
RAM is an acronym of Random Access Memory,it is a hardware device which temporary stores data.

Just like in a phone when we minimize an application or anything ,what is been minimized is temporary stored by the RAM. Each motherboard manufacturer and model has its maximum RAM capacity, when changing a ram we have to check for it's maximum capacity by either checking online or through the reader's manual.

TYPES OF RAM
There are two types of RAM namely;

  • Dynamic RAM(DRAM)
  • Static RAM(SRAM)
Every RAM Consist of both the DRAM and SRAM. A SRAM Stores less data, access data faster and uses more power while a DRAM Stores more data, change data faster and cost less.

WHEN TO CHANGE A COMPUTER RAM?
  • If a computer runs slower than than it should
  • If you want to increase the speed of the computer
  • If the computer is freezing when playing games or running others applications

    APPARATUS NEEDED
  • Screwdriver set(BTS 6334 Precision screwdrivers) or any screwdriver suitable for the screw.

STEPS REQUIRED IN CHANGING A RAM
These steps are basically for HP 2000 laptop but can also be applied to others computer.
  • Turn the laptop to it back

  • Remove the laptop battery

  • Select a screwdriver that suite the bolt covered by the battery and unscrew/ select a screwdriver that can be use to unscrew the bolt associated to the RAM and unscrew

  • Remove the cover of the unscrewed bolt

  • Flip the RAM Cover up(the RAM cover prevents the ram from dust, water etc) and widen the pin holding the RAM. The RAM will be free
  • Remove the RAM

Thanks for sharing Man. I think this might just help someone out there to save some money to be spent at the engineer's shop.
Although different laptops have different RAM placement an not all laptop's RAM can be easily accessed just as yours was. Perhaps you could specify the laptop's name and model you worked with in you blog next time.

Thanks bro.The laptop name was mentioned in the "Step required in changing a RAM" section . It is a HP 2000 model.

Oh! I must have missed that. That's great then

Can you just increase the RAM of a pc without considering other factors such as the HDD size?

Hard disk drive size does not affect RAM size, the deciding factor of the Maximum RAM size is the computer motherboard which the details can be obtained in the computer specifications which differs through laptops.
