It is not so common, from my experience i would say one may come across this in about 1 to 500 patients, so far i have only seen it in chronic hypertensive patients with pressure around 200 and some individuals who were involved in accidents, i had one lady who had it spontaneously and ct scans of the brain was fine so she was managed with steroids and she recovered nicely.
