STEMng Digest: Don't give up

in StemSocial2 years ago
Authored by @gentleshaid

Sometimes in life, it appears everything is against you. It is like you against the entire world. You are simply overwhelmed and feel like ending it all.

You are not the only one. Many people are in your shoes many, have passed through similar situations before. Some that are smiling today have passed through hell. It is because they did not give up.

Those that choose the easy way out are already 6 feet below, yet the world did not end. If you don't give up, victory may be yours.

Welcome to a new edition of our digest.

Who are we?

STEMng is the Nigerian sub-community of the stemsocial community, a community that has been supporting stem authors on the hive blockchain for about four years now. While stemsocial focuses on everyone irrespective of their country, STEMng is specifically for Nigerians. The best stem contents published by Nigerians on the Hive blockchain are highlighted weekly.

Below are the posts that made it into our digest for this week:

  1. @medicvibes: Schizophrenia in Nigeria (Abstract|Hive Introduction)
The first featuring article for this edition is from a new account whose author has been on ground for a while. Schizophrenia is a medical condition that is very common in Nigeria. Unfortunately, many Nigerians attribute the cause of this condition to a supernatural cause. This is why many seemingly mentally unstable folks are often seen roaming the streets in the country. If you wish to know more about this condition, give the post a read.

2.@eni-ola: Physiology of the Cochlea (The Anatomy of the Inner Ear)
This is post acting as a pre-requisite to the continuation of the series on cranial nerves by the author. An understanding of the anatomy of the inner ear seems like a must-have knowledge if one wish to understand cranial nerves fully. In this particular post, the Cochlea os the ear is the subject of discussion.

3.@hillaryisidore: Understanding the pathophysiology of urinary tract infection and its effect
Urinary track infection is one of the most common diseases facing humanity, especially in the developing countries. Many people actually cannot make distinctions between UTIs and sexually transmitted infections. Here is an article explaining the basics of what UTIs are all about - how they are diagnosed and treated. An educative piece.

4.@oluwatobiloba: What you should know about Hansen's Disease (Leprosy))
Here is a discussion about a disease that is not so common but very popular when it comes to history. I was this day old when I got to know that this disease, leprosy, is otherwise known as Hansen's disease. The major things one needs to know about this disease are discussed in the post. A good read.

5.@alidickson: Scientific facts about Liposuction.
The last but not the least for this week is a discussion that will pique the interest of many. I have seen videos of this procedures several time son social media and rumour has it that the procedure is what took the life of one of Nigeria's ex president. Read the post to understand more about the topic.

And that ends our selections for this week. Do not forget to give the featured posts/authors your maximum support. Thank you in advance.

If you are a content creator on Hive and wondering how you can participate in the community, all you need to do would to:

  • Make it as interesting as possible
  • Adopt beautiful layout/formatting
  • Personalize your writing (it is social blogging, remember)
  • Use copyright-free images
  • Include references (facts over fiction)
  • to increase the likelihood of being discovered, use the tag 'stemng'.

Excellent publications selected. I will read them one by one. Due to work issues I don't have as much time as I would like to read everything, but I'll try.
Thank you very much for this selection.
