STEMng Digest: Week 2

in StemSocial4 years ago

It was another beautiful week of authorship in the stemsocial community on the hive blockchain with Nigerian authors contributing their own quota to the community. In this last week, a total of eight posts were created by Nigerian stem authors (and supported by stemsocial) on hive - an average of approximately one post per day. The eight posts were created by 4 unique authors. The posts are listed below

  1. Ordinary matter 3 by @emperorhassy
  2. Health & diseases: the battle against cancer and lung diseases by @loveforlove
  3. A world without waste nemesis: mind your carbon footprint by @oluwoleolaide
  4. Learnin science through movies: the Faraday shield by @hadji
  5. All about gases being taught in the classroom 5 by @empressteemah
  6. Ordinary matter 2 by @emperorhassy
  7. Health and diseases: types of cardiovascular diseases 3 by @loveforlove
  8. All about gases being taught in the classroom 4 by @empressteemah

Top pick for the week

All the posts seemed decent as far as stemsocial standard is concerned. However, some are more decent than others. After extensive consultation with stem officionadoes, our top pick for week 2 is the post by @hadji; Learnin science through movies: the Faraday shield by @hadji.

Apart from the obvious aesthetic arrangement of the post, the fact that it followed a storyline in a movie made it stand out. I do not know about others, but getting stem across to the masses through a movie retelling sounds interesting even to those who are in the stem fields. Kudos to the author and more ink to their pen!

Do you think we should put a little hive bounty on our weekly top picks? Perhaps it can encourage authors to be more creative?

About STEMng's ongoing contest

For those that are not already aware, we are running a contest to try and bring back some of our old authors and get them writing again. The contest has 80 hive price attached to it with the top 3 winners getting 20 hive each (in addition to curation by stemsoscial). More about the contest can be found in this post

Last week, the contest was extended by a week in order to get more entries but up till now, we have not received any other entry apart from the single one that we had last week. The contest we end sometime this week and if we do not get any other entry, it might be canceled and the author of the single entry given a kind of compensation for participating.

We will restrategize and throw another contest, perhaps more inclusive this time. Stay tuned!

Wow, its quite an age that i have been here. I guess that i have missed alot. Anyway am back again. Well done @stemng team, and well done @gentleshaid. Am just looking through stemsocial when i stumbled on this post. Can i still participate in the contest, or rather let me say, is the contest still on for us new bies?. Well done once again.

I just began my write-up for the part 2 of Understanding Socialization. I feel an ache when I see the weekly report, I guess this motivates me and reminds of STEM articles.

I see the STEMNG community is becoming more active, that's great. Superb contents.

Great effort to @gentleshaid and others, for the organizing this sub community of STEM

Yes, we are gradually getting back to normal activities. Would be really awesome to have some of you back writing regularly. I feel we are lacking the usual bite that we are known for in terms of quality.

I am glad to see more and more authors are repopulating the stemng community! Little by little, it will be built again!

Nice digest by the stemng community. Our authors are doing great too especially the consistent ones. This is good let keep it up. Well done @gentleshaid for holding the forth. I hope more authors will come back to writing.
