RE: Does Aluminium really cause Alzheimer's Disease?

Aluminum is the 12th most common element in the universe. The metal has atomic number 13. It is a major component of a substance on the earth called dirt.

The problem with aluminum is that the base element is highly reactive. A free aluminum atom will quickly bond with other atoms to form stable alloys. This actually means that most of the aluminum one finds on earth is bound in an inert stable compound.

Aluminum tends to bind quickly with oxygen. That means that aluminum products are covered with a stable, non-reactive layer of aluminum oxide.

While it is extremely difficult to process aluminum from bauxite. IT is extremely inexpensive to recycle aluminum. I think it is a much better substance than metal for bottles.

Aluminum pans are generally safe ... unless you scrape the pan with a fork.

I agree that using aluminum foil for food is foolish.

Baking soda is made of sodium bicarbonate.

Baking soda is basic. When combined with acids it bubbles. Some recipes use naturally acidic substances to make bubbles. For example lemon, cream of tartar or butter milk reacts with baking soda.

Baking powder combines baking soda with an acid. Some brands of baking powder use acids like sodium-silicaaluminate or Sodium aluminum phosphate . There are many aluminum free brands of baking powder.

Bakers believe that sodium-silicaaluminate makes a smoother muffin. I think it gives a metallic taste.

Aluminum is not an evil substance. A free aluminum molecule wants to combine with other substances. Processed aluminum might created free radicals.

Aluminum is the 12th most common substance in the universe. Adding aluminum to food is stupid and one should avoid wrapping food in aluminum foil.

But there is no need to teach people to fear aluminum.
