What you said is totally accurate. Knowledge has significantly improved over the last hundred years. However, we are still far from understanding deeply how the universe works. Even with our currenet understanding, anomalies lie all over the place. The path in front of us is thus still quite long (which is good, as this means that we have still a lot to learn and that the story is not over).
