It was time. All the yard lounging in freshly dug dirt holes and chilling in the rain had made my lovely soon to be 13 year old Husky Maya, a tad on the stinky side and in need of a good scrubbing. Luckily, our local pet shop “Pet Supplies Plus”, was there to lend a hand in getting this dirty bitch clean. Our hands…
That’s because we use the doggy self wash station which is a dream for any owners of large filthy pups. The deal is great as I pre purchase 5 washes for $25 bucks…sometimes there’s even a BOGO sale going on with that. Great time to stock up!
So the associate punched the card, and the wife @reeseshara and I escorted Maya to her newly awaited cleanly fate. There are 3 washing stations and luckily it’s empty so we have the run of it. Everything is there for us from aprons to help us keep a tad dryer, 4 different shampoos, to towels galore & powerful shop vac like hoses for quick and easy drying.
After a lovely scrubbing through 4 different shampoos, Maya was ready for a snap to share with you guys. She’s such a dream to share these moments with. As a pet owner, I love these times as I feel we build a strong bond while making it fun.

Drying is always the really messy part with a Husky. If you weren’t already aware, these breeds are a hairy bunch and shed a ton. With a good scrubbing, we loosened up a ton of the undercoat just to have the shop vac blow whispy fur all over the place but not limited to: my mouth, my eyelashes, my clothed, my hair, etc…
Although we try out best to clean the area as much as possible after use, I’m sure the folks that work here secretly hate us all. No dogs seem to leave as much fur behind as my pups. 😂
In all honesty, all of my dogs were dreams to bathe. I used to come here and bring all of my pups one at a time (it’s right around the corner). They were all angels to wash, although my boy Kitano & my girl Bindi would channel their inner Malamute & Husky and talk the entire time, while older brother Bandit & Maya here were always fairly silent. I miss that dearly and one of the reasons I think bringing Maya here is so near and dear to my heart as it’s a reminder of the moments I shared with her siblings when the pack was all together.

Anyhoo…after 4 thorough washings with 4 hands, we decide to treat this pup to some yums at the puppy snack bar. Decisions…decisions. My wife said Maya picked out a well deserved yogurt pretzel. Such a happy pup…
Then it’s all about catching some zzzzzz’s at home on her throne (the ottoman) as she fills the house with the aroma of wet dog & whispy fur for the next 24 hours. I would trade it for the world…❤️

Aww... Such a happy puppy. She looked so content 😍
She’s the best and I’m still in awe to this day at just how perfect she is.
awwwwwww. Yay Maya!
She is all clean and lookin pretty now. Hope she enjoyed her pretzel. :)
She eats like a Queen…better than myself most days. Lol. she enjoyed it for sure!
My friend has a talkative white husky mix which has regular goomer visits but is in aggressive shedding mode already despite spring barely being here. The wispy white fuzz is a force to be reckoned with!
You ain’t kidding. It gets everywhere for a few days after a good scrubbing. Time to let the Roomba free to work.
You're right, it's challenging to clean in-between fur and all that. Hahaha how does the aroma of wet dog smell like? Plus, it looks like it takes quite a while before you can bath it again?
Oh man…I don’t even know how to describe it. Lol
It’s just burnt into my nostrils at this point in my life having a pack of monsters that loved to get soaked.
I can imagine the station is very convenient for a dog that size..
I've got two small ones, I just pick them up and stick them in the bath. :D
Maya is so beautiful and looks veey content! Lovely!
Thanks for sharing!
Thank you so much. YeH, small pups are easier to bathe. My sister bathes hers in her sink. Lol
Yup, that sounds about right.. 😄
