About a week ago we built a shelf for our three cats to sit and watch the goings-on of the world from the kitchen window. It is a great improvement over the previous set up; a rickety board that fit one or two cats and was a source of conflict at times. The shelf now has a compartment for each which is very important for them to live in harmony. After he finished making the shelf my partner felt that something was missing and asked me to make a pillow for each cat.
I wondered if they really would use a pillow but obliged. I have a small sewing business and thus a lot of extra fabric. Two types of fabric in particular are cat-themed and so I used a bit of both.
A purple fabric with white jaguars was for our female calico cat, Paprika. And for the two boy cats a cream colored design with a orange and white house cat tumbling around. The pillows were very easy to make as I had all the supplies needed; a bit of stuffing, the fabrics, thread, and my sewing machine.
By the time I had finished sewing the cats were already in their sleeping spots for the night. The boy cats on chairs and Paprika at the foot of my bed. I tucked a pillow under her head and she started purring immediately. So far her pillow was a success!
The next morning I set the pillows at the three window spots. As I did so I thought this would be great for winter when the cats tend to rest their heads on the cold, metal windowsills.
The days went on and I was very happy to see that each cat has been using their pillow while resting at their new window spot. In fact they have been spending hours & hours & hours at the window during the day. On cold mornings or especially when it is raining, you can see one, two, or all three kitties enjoying the view from our kitchen window, their heads rested upon a pillow.
Since our kitties' birth in 2020 we have learned a lot about raising multiple cats in a very small home. I think the most important thing is that each cats has his or her own space. This is especially important when they are stuck indoors and get a little feisty. The two orange, male, cats love to play but sometimes their rowdiness annoys their sister who will hiss or snap at them unless she has a space to get away from them. Now she may simply jump up to her window spot. The boys know not to follow her there, or else!

A place that looks very good and cozy for cats and they also deserve that comfort and that view will allow them to rest, also excellent is the initiative of making a pad for them and that way the cats will be happy.
