It is not very common, or at least here on the Island, to have festivals or racing events made for our best friends. To tell the truth, the Island and I would dare say Venezuela, has little education about pets. There are still many places that do not allow you to enter with your furry children because they are simply not allowed. In fact I had a very uncomfortable occasion where I wrote to the Instagram of a very famous mall here to find out if I could enter with my pet to which I was told yes, as long as it was in a bag or backpack. All confident and happy I went with my furry little girl in my bag and to my surprise when I was walking around, some security came and almost kicked me out. Now it turns out that this mall is Pet Friendly since a short time ago. In conclusion, I had a hard time for nothing, because soon after they let them in and WALKING.
Hola a todos, espero que se encuentren muy bien y que estén preparados para pasar un gran fin de semana.
No es muy común, o por lo menos aquí en la Isla, que hagan festivales o eventos de carreras hecho para nuestros mejores amigos. A decir verdad, la Isla y me atrevería a decir que Venezuela, tiene poca educación sobra las mascotas. Aún hay muchos sitios que no te permiten entrar con tus hijos peludos porque sencillamente no están permitidos. De hecho tuve una ocasión muy incómoda en donde escribí al Instagram de un centro comercial muy famoso aquí para saber si podía entrar con mi mascota a lo que me dijeron que sí, mientras esté en un bolso o mochila. Toda confiada y feliz me fui con mi niña peluda en el bolso y para mi sorpresa cuando iba paseando, llegaron unos de seguridad y me sacaron casi a patadas. Ahora resulta que ese centro comercial sí es Pet Friendly desde hace poco tiempo. En conclusión, pasé un mal rato para nada, ya que al poco tiempo los dejaban entrar y CAMINANDO.
Anyway, not to deviate from the initial topic, this year, specifically in January, there was an event called Dog Fest Margarita, which would be held on a street that is coastal and where people go to walk daily, you can see what it is in my publication Exercise Day, The Caracola 🤾♀️. Since 2022, preparations and publications began by the local sponsors and of course the mayor's office. To put you in context, Margarita is divided into several municipalities, the most important are called Mariño and Maneiro. The latter has a mayor who loves pets, or so it seems, since this municipality, unlike the others, is always in constant training and several inaugurations per month of Pet Friendly certified stores.
En fin, para no desviarme del tema inicial, este año, específicamente en Enero, se realizó un evento llamado Dog Fest Margarita, el cual se realizaría en una calle que es costera y donde la gente va a caminar a diario, pueden ver cuál es en mi publicación JDHEJJDJDJDJDJD. Desde el 2022, empezaron los preparativos y las publicaciones por parte de los locales patrocinares y por supuesto la alcaldía. Para ponerte un poco en contexto, Margarita se divide en varios Municipios, los más importantes se llaman Mariño y Maneiro. Este último tiene un alcalde que ama a las mascotas, o eso parece, ya que ese Municipio, a diferencia de los otros, siempre están en constante capacitación y varias inauguraciones por mes de locales que se certifican Pet Friendly.

When I saw the publication that this festival would take place, I didn't hesitate at all to sign up, well, to sign up my daughter with hair. In the package, they included a plastic dish, some treats for the pets, a flannel for me with Luna's name and participant's number and a scarf for her. All that inside a bag with the name of the festival.
Cuando vi la publicación que se haría ese festival, no dudé en absoluto inscribirme, bueno, inscribir a mi hija con pelos. En el paquete, te incluían un plato de plástico, unas golosinas para las mascotas, una franela para mí con el nombre de Luna y el número de participante y una pañoleta para ella. Todo eso dentro de un bolso con el nombre del festival.

The truth is that the festival was going to be held at the end of 2022, but by that time (and as a rare thing), heavy rains started, so it had to be suspended 3 times. In the race you were going to go with your pet by your side, and you had to walk or run the whole 2 km until you reached the finish line, which was a stage with music, refreshments and some stands selling drinks and snacks.
La verdad el festival se iba a hacer a finales del 2022, pero para ese momento (y como cosa rara), empezaron lluvias muy fuertes por lo que se tuvo que suspender en 3 ocasiones. En la carrera ibas a ir con tu mascota al lado, y debías caminar o correr los 2 km totales hasta llegar a la meta que era una tarima con música, refrigerio y algunos stands de venta de bebidas y algunos snacks.
I arrived and the race started; I, of course full of energy and excitement, started walking, the truth is that I don't know how to run and Luna was running loose, because she is a free soul. When we reached the finish line, I think most of the dogs had already arrived, so I could say that we arrived after the garbage truck. The good thing is that they were doing a contest of tricks that the dogs were doing, and without fear I got on stage and started to tell Luna some tricks, which of course she did almost none because of the excitement of seeing so many people. So she gave me a hard time; but the most important thing is that she had a great time and we had a different kind of day!
Llegué y la carrera comenzó; yo, por supuesto llena de energía y emoción, empecé a caminar, la verdad es que no sé correr y Luna iba suelta, porque ella es un alma libre. Al llegar a la meta, creo que ya había llegado la mayoría de los perros, así que podría decir que llegamos después del camión de la basura. Lo bueno es que estaban haciendo un concurso de trucos que hacían los perros, y sin miedo me subí al escenario y empecé a decirle a Luna algunos trucos, que por supuesto no hizo casi ninguno por la emoción de ver a tanta gente. Así que me hizo pasar pena; pero lo más importante es que ella la pasó muy bien y logramos pasar un día diferente!

Luna looks adorable. I wish we had an activity like this in our community here. I'd surely sign up even if it means bringing all five of our fur babies. Regarding your experience at the mall, I hope it all goes well for you and Luna now. Here in Cebu, most malls are finally pet-friendly and I feel glad seeing dogs walking around.
Hello dear @lifewithchel, thank you very much for writing. These activities don't do much here, that's why I decided to sign up. I wish these events would take place more often. Regarding my experience at the mall, it was very bad but as I said: it wasn't even worth the bad time because a couple of months ago they were let in. I don't know where Cebu is, but I hope you can get more activities for your furry son. Regards
Hi @lifeblue . Cebu is one of the islands in the Philippines. I'm from a southern town and I haven't heard of any activities here for fur babies. In the city, malls already allow dogs to roam around while following some basic rules though, so I'm glad but I don't know if I can bring all five of our dogs to some events haha. Anyway, I hope you and Luna have a great time.

No tenía idea de este festival, y eso que también soy de la Isla. No tengo perros (solo gatos, jeje) pero estoy segura de lo divertido que debió haber Sido una actividad como esta rodeada de tanta gente que comparte el mismo amor por sus mascotas.

Hola amiga! Gracias por comentar. Fue un evento realizado por los de Isla Pets, estuvieron varios meses haciendo publicaciones, lástima que no pudiste ir 😭, estuvo muy divertido.
Pd: A mí me causó mucha risa y amor verla con el bolsito en la espalda 😍🤣
Que divertido día con luna, mi prima tiene una perrita que se llama exactamente igual y se parece mucho. Aquí en la isla es difícil encontrar actividades que puedas hacer con las mascotas así como jornadas y ese tipo de cosas, pero por lo menos alguien hace lo que puede.. un saludo para ti y otro para luna ❤️

Hola @lifeblue, que bueno que hayan podido hacer una carrera de mascotas, aquí donde vivo, eso no se hace y tampoco podría participar, porque no tengo una mascota aunque algún día quiero tener un perro
Jajaja, qué gracioso. Bueno, quizás cuando tengas una mascota puedas participar y hasta correr detrás de él o ella cuando intente una escapada de campeón o campeona! =)
