The animals we take into our homes become part of our family and we maintain the rule of treating them well in terms of feeding and care. As a child I grew up in a very big house with a huge yard, there were many trees of different fruits and ornamentals, I really liked a cayenne plant, red and its petals were very large. In that yard, different animals were raised, but most of them were morrocoys. They reproduced and when we found little morrocoys we would put them in a safe place because of how fragile they were when they were born.

In my house, with my small children we had several that without realizing it were getting lost (dying) and we didn't know why. My desire to have these animals in my house was never extinguished. The day came when my mother agreed to give me two big and beautiful morrocoyes because she could no longer take care of them as before, when they arrived home we named them Juan and Juana. They had the yard just for them, they hid in a way that was not easy to find them until step by step we realized their hiding places. We would get lettuce, cabbage and others that they could eat at the market, but I already knew that their favorite shell was milkweed, because my mother gave them a lot of milkweed, it was easy for her to get it.

In the year 2020, a year that for everyone has its own meaning, we had a trip planned...Where would Renata, my son's dog, stay and what do we do with the morroccoys? The dog stayed at home, every day they would feed her and check her. The morrocoyes were adopted in another house, it turns out that the trip was planned for two months that turned into a year. A few months after returning we received the news that Juan had died, but Juana was fine. A month and a half after being already in our house Juana came back and is here, with us of course I had already collected her milky shells to give her and so it was. After she ate she looked for her favorite place to spend the night.
