Cooper’s Life: A Dog’s Remarkable Bond with Family

Hello, Hivers! It has been a while since I have written a blog, and I’m happy to finally have a spare time to write again. For this blog, I would like to show my appreciation for our dog, Cooper. I have always wondered, why is it that our pets are a hundred times better than human beings even when they don’t know how to talk? Whatever the reason may be, I am forever grateful for their existence.

I think we all have that one family member who dislikes having pets to take care of in our house; in our house, it’s my father. Actually, it’s been a long time since we’ve had a dog, and it was last September of 2022 that my mother agreed to adopt my uncle’s puppy. He was named Cooper since my parents both agreed that it seemed like a name for smart people, and they hoped that Cooper, our dog, would become that smart dog. Jokes on them, Cooper has grown into a wild and silly dog.

It has been two years, nearing three, of having him around the house, and a lot can happen in those years — one of them is me getting so attached and growing a strong bond with the dog. In fact, it’s not just to me, but as well as to all the members in our house. He is like a sun who always had a bright energy in him and radiated us all with good vibes.

Actually, a year after Cooper, we had another dog named Einstein, and indeed he was a smart dog. He was welcomed warmly by Cooper, which was so sweet, and I could say that he grew an attachment to Einstein. It was all well until the puppy died. It was a grieving moment for us since we were attached, and we loved Einstein even though he was just there for a short time. That was traumatizing for us that my mother refused to have another puppy after Einstein.

A lot of people have asked and wondered what his breed is, and whenever we say that he is an Aspin (Asong Pinoy), they would hesitate to believe because of his size. Aspins are actually underrated and discriminated against by the Filipinos, and I wish I could do something that could somehow change that. They are the sweetest, and they don’t deserve to be treated unfairly just because they are not those dogs with “high breeds.”

Going on a walk is Cooper’s favorite activity since he could get a chance to go outside and explore more than just our front yard and backyard. Whenever we planned on going out for a walk, Cooper would sense it and would act so wild, like a child who’d want to come with us. Cooper’s first walk outside was uncontrollable. With his size, someone with a little strength like me would easily get carried by him, which makes it hard for me to control him.

Although going on a walk with him is not the best thing to do as per my experience and even for my family, I know that it is for him. So I and my brother endured it; it’s not all bad since watching him get entertained with the surroundings is fulfilling. It’s funny actually, because every time that we go on a walk, there is an instance that would test him and even us. Whenever we walk past a pack of dogs, my brother or even I would carry him to avoid chaos. More so, he would also be carried when there is a circumstance that he doesn’t want to go home or when he is tired (personally, it’s actually ironic for a dog to feel tired faster than a human).

Sometimes, I would even get jealous of Cooper because he was getting all the attention. My parents spoil him a lot, from the food he eats to the clothes he’d wear. My mother bought him a fit— a jacket and a t-shirt, which is actually a nice idea. Cooper looks so cute in them, and they are actually very useful, especially during cold weather or rainy days. It’s fascinating to watch Cooper wear these fits; he’d look like a wannabe dog. My favorite is actually the Christmas-themed one; we made him wear it last Christmas paired with a headband.

After recalling Cooper’s role in our family, not only did he develop and grow an attachment to us, but he also strengthened the bond in our family. Although they cannot talk, it’s their actions that make them adorable and a man’s best friend. Their loyalty is something to admire, and I hope that humans could repay that. With all the realizations, it’s sad to think that their lives are only part of a chapter for us, but for them it’s their whole lifetime— so let’s do our best to give them a good life.

That would be all for this blog; thank you for taking the time to read it. :)

thank you!🥰

We also have dog in our house, they are so cute right?they are like family to us🤍

yeah🤩 dogs and their cuteness are essential to households

What a handsome boy Cooper is. So happy to see he is being showered with lots of love. And I can't understand too why people has that hate with Aspin. All our dogs are aspin and seriously, they are the sweetest and smartest too. They are just lovely. I just wish they can receive the same love as what the other breed of dogs receives. They all deserve it!

for real! it's sad to think that some Aspins are treated unfairly. Glad to know that there are people who does not mind the breed of a dog.
