The Winner OF The Pet Photo Comment Contest! Guess Who Picked It?

in Hive Pets4 years ago (edited)

Almost a week from now, I hosted a contest in this post and is sponsored by @itsmiessyonpeakd and we chose the #hivepets community for our love of pets. And here are our dear furry parents who participated and lovely their pet(s):

@phoenixwren's Maggie and Yuan @hjrrodriguez's little duckies @stephytdh's Susy Amor @pagane's Lia @dearw's Max @hiraya's mongoose @mariya36's cutie dog @jayparagat's Zoey

We have a winner.png

It was quite hard to decide on the winner so I asked two people to help me and @itsmiessyonpeakd to pick on the winner, @foxkoit, and @gerel. So the last decision should be on me to choose from the three photos. Here are the top three candidates in no orders; @hjrrodriguez's little duckies, @dearw's Max, & @stephytdh's Susy Amor. Even this was still a little hard for me to decide and so I asked my two and a half old baby to point on the photos which one he likes, and by the way, loves animals and even little bugs! And he enthusiastically pointed to Max! He called him a baby tiger, haha!

Well, there goes our winner...

Hi! Am I already participating in this new initiative? Sorry, I've been reading the rules but I still don't get exactly what I have to do. Thank you so much in advance 😇 @purepinay

Thank you so much Miessi, Jeepjeep & Neyney 😇😻✨

I love that your kitty will wear a tie. I think Yuan would look very dapper in a bow tie but his record for getting out of a collar is about 20 minutes so I don't think he'd tolerate my silly human nonsense. 😂

Just leave it there sometime. He will get used to it.☺☺☺

My cats hated anything on them, lol. They don't know how to have fun. 🤣

Thank you again for sponsoring the contest! Choosing your comment for comet week for category 🔺hehehe

@wil.metcalfe ☄️

Thank you, @wil.metcalfe! I love when people engage with different activities on Hive, it makes it more fun to be here and just like you engagement should be the core of this platform. But of course finding those people who connects the same interest that's why it's good to have different communities on Hive.

Yeah! Your right though... Sometimes it's difficult to find people with similar interests as you might have especially in new and growing platforms like Hive (as compared to those difunctional but populated platforms like FB and Twitter).

That being said! I like to expand my knowledge of the world by being as curious about other peoples interests as I can! I just learn so so much and it ends UP being great because I learn things I might not have this way. The world would be a more understanding place if more people didn't obsess about only being interested in their interests...

I learned this awhile ago actually... When in 2012 I was watching BTC at $10 and didn't invest. 😩

I learned that it's not what you know but what you don't know that makes all the difference! That was at least a $3,000,000 lesson at the time (2017). I promised myself that THAT would never happen again!

I was going to begin getting in the habit of asking myself, "How do you know what you don't know?"

And one of those answers was... to pretend that I didn't know ANYTHING... and to attempt to learn about other people and their interests as well... oh! And to dig past the first page of a Google search! hahaha! That helps to!

But yeah!

As an ice breaker and for the fun of it! Finding things that you share in common is so much fun and really brings people together!

Let's keep making Hive a better and more fun/friendly place Gil!

I so am appreciating you and your crew right now! 😊

@wil.metcalfe

Thank you so much for taking the time to do this, Wil
A big Rawr from Max to you and your project
✨😇🤝

What's this...? And why is a bot verifying accounts here on Hive? If we want to build a friendly Hive we need to verify accounts... yes. But we need to do it in a non-invasive way.

This should be something the Hive Owner requests and should be authenticated by our own peers and representatives so that "Having our accounts verified" is something to be celebrated and proudly displayed.

As things stand... this feels like big brother has approved our account. I'm sorry... But this does nothing to insure and support a friendly Hive where we all can all, as owners, compound trust and spread the good and best about our Hive Blockchain.

Soooo I would say you get a "E" for effort... and a "F" for it's execution. How we go about implementing things is just as important as the implementation it's self.

Please consider this as some feed back from yours truly.

@wil.metcalfe

I was too got worried at first coz I didn't request for the verification although there is an option for an actual to verify the identity but the account owner should have the full control of this account verification.

EXACTLY right Gil!? This sort of thing should never trigger anxiety. It's not a wanted service if it does.

That's why this sort of authentication needs to be done upon request... otherwise it's imposing on peoples privacy and has a very unfriendly feel to it even if that's not the intended thought behind it.

@guiltyparties @hivewatchers @hivewatcher @spaminator this is some constructive feed back. I hope that you'll take serious consideration as to the ramifications this sort of implementation has on the friendliness of our blockchain as well as the mental health and privacy of the people you are "authenticating".

It's because we have a lot of people who steal other people's identities and destroy their lives, all to make a few bucks off a post under their names. At the end of the day, I can handle the fact that someone on chain may be a little inconvenienced they were asked to verify and will complain. I never again want to see an artist in our voice chat in full hysterics because she just lost her gallery contract because someone made a fake profile with her name and art. Or an influencer we're trying to onboard who finds "himself" already on chain. Or everyone else in between. Inconvenience < ID theft.

Hi Reese,

I absolutely understand the need for security. Maximum security (as we all know) is at the expense of our freedom and also privacy... At least institutionally speaking. But how many people would give up their freedom just so that they can be 100% sure of their security? How many people would give up their privacy just so that they can be 100% sure of their security? I know that there are some who would... but certainly not all of us...

And that is why it's so important that these important (YES! They are important!) measures be implemented in the right order and in the right way. So as to protect the things we all fight for. If we destroy the thing we are protecting while we are going about protecting it... What's the point right?

Ultimately freedom, privacy, and voice are the things we are protecting and I have no doubt about your passion in this regard Reese. What you are doing is commendable But how your are doing it... Well that's what I'm talking about here (and in other conversations.)

I believe we have the same goals...

A healthy Hive free of scammers, spammers, and people steeling other peoples content (and giving us all a bad name!)

But where we differ is in the finer points...

HOW we go about these security measure matters as much and even more than the security measures themselves.

Please stop and consider.

Thank you for your response. Another response is on it's way (from the last comment you made).

Over the last couple day's things have certainly been busy! And I'm sure I'm not the only one!

You are as well so I value that you took the time to respond here.

@wil.metcalfe

I appreciate you constantly bringing up different points of view. In the case of ID theft it just happens to be the worst possible type of 'abuse', second only to phishing. The effects of it are so devastating to the victims that it's best to just inconvenience some of our users. It's one of those things where making easier for one person cannot justify the absolute annihilation of someone else's entire life.

Many people figure our ID theft is just creating an account with the name of some historical figure, but it's not. We'e had people who went through Facebook connections and stole identities of children, derived from their parents' accounts. We had every sort of content creator from other platforms, typically from Instagram, targeted. It costs them their positions as brand ambassadors which is how they make their money. Many, many artists, who are impacted worse than any other group as it just demolishes their entire business. Here's a blast from the past you'll appreciate.

Hivewatchers already explained to you multiple times that every comment is posted manually.

Logic... I’m not talking about posting comments manually. You have got to think deeper than that... at least a couple steps more.

Hivewatchers already explained to you multiple times that there is NO BOT, and that every comment is posted manually.

That’s even worse. If this is done manually then it should be done with a human touch not a copy and past... and that’s just a start... especially when the verification wasn’t asked for. Is it necessary as a prevention. It’s seems like it. Like a vaccine it protects us from lots of not so nice outcomes... but does that mean we just walk up to people and give them the jab without talking to them at first...

Like I said in my last comment... you have simply got to think deeper than this... a couple steps more at the minimum. If we don’t start thinking about HOW we secure our blockchain... we won’t have a blockchain to go to...

HOW matters more than ever right now especially if we are to build a bridge and market Hive to people living on the Social2.0’s on the other side.

If we don’t start really and seriously thinking about HOW and making this an actual destination... it won’t matter how much technology and amazing innovations we pack into it... it’s not habitual...

HOW matters just like WHAT does.

If we don’t rethink our HOW the problems we create with our brand and culture will supersede the solutions we innovate.

@wil.metcalfe

P.S. You guys are going to have to slow down to speedUP. AND recruit the community of owners with code at the blockchain level to freeUP more time to do the vital steps that are missing from your processes. Think about it. Is there any sense in what I’m saying? And by now... you guys know that this feedback is coming from someone who cares (I’m an owner after all right?) a lot about the health, well-being, and future prospects of Hive.

You see... we are all looking at the same coin... only we are both looking from different perspectives. You guys are looking at the vitally important security side of the coin. I am looking at the vitally important marketing side of the coin. Both are extremely important if we are to succeed... so that’s the tricky part... the answer is on the edge of the coin and this can’t be discovered without the back and forth of open diologue between the service and the community it serves.
