Updates on POSH

in HivePosh7 hours ago

Been a while since I've posted about POSH so thought I'd give you all a quick update.

We've finally managed to generate enough liquidity for @redditposh and we've been seeing new sharers coming in and learning the ins and outs of reddit sharing which is great to see. @x-rain has been tirelessly running the weekly contests where top sharers earn some extra delegations and now Hive rewards (used to be HBD but prices kind of made it hard to maintain those). We've been seeing quite consistent hits on reddit bringing in thousands of views onto link shared posts.

Maybe soon with lite accounts being available our front-ends could offer easy creation and we could see if visitors start bothering quickly signing up to leave a comment on the shared posts and get more involved in the ecosystem!

Anyway, with the increase of usage of Redditposh naturally there was also a lot of abusers that attempted to join and try to multi-account and overshare along with potentially having a bad reputation and activity on Hive. This caused a lot of activities to mitigate this, both from curators doing research and busting these accounts along with our dev @hivetrending having to update the way the program works to make sure they don't manage to make it out with any hive rewards.

There's currently 404 hive accounts banned through our discord and 73 reddit accounts.

This along with an increase of shares it started to also cost a lot of times towards myself and our new curators to properly reward shares by checking every requirement and other things we look into before we curate the shares.

Thus, we decided to add a curation and anti-abuse cut to the Reddit shares starting at 10%. Since amount of work is proportional to amount of shares we figured a % might be the best option here. For the anti-abuse part, we will share the cut based on how much work was required to be done there.

Anyway, this means that for now, the rewards of the shares are split 70/20/10 going to sharers/author/curation+anti-abuse. We may adjust the latter based on an increase or decrease of sharing activity.

Other than that, we're over halfway through "buying out" @reward.app, which at some point we will change some ways of how it works and make sure it is maintained. The account has for now stopped voting on authors to avoid further abuse as there was a lot of bad activity stemming from that due to automatic votes.

We've also been receiving some requests to look into other socials, for now we may be a bit behind on updating things like blueskyposh or adapting to other platforms, but if there's enough demand we may try focusing on that in the near future.

We have some plans for some giveaways and further encouragement of different initiatives, one that a community has started on its own which is great to see - more about that in an upcoming post!

Thanks for reading and supporting sending traffic to our front-ends!

We need feedback from front-ends, and their active engagement in onboarding through HivePosh. Then, we can adapt to their requests, share links in a more targeted way, and also advise on some things from our side, too.

I hope maybe @snapie might be interested in any sort of collaboration to try onboarding users through HivePosh one day... They have a front-end already - https://www.snapie.io/ but no individual post links are available. Short-form content is okay, there are ways to generate traffic with it, too.

Just sharing links is good, but better to have a plan for how to involve users in onboarding and posting.

We really need light accounts, just email sign up and go, an easy registration page without pay options not to make it look like paywall or too complicated

Switching hbd to hive rewards with that hive prices makes sense

Farcaster is a network that is growing well. I think many people in the crypto universe are there, so it may be a future point of interest for investment.

Yeah have heard quite a bit about it lately!

Easy creation methods is very important cause as viewers take notice, the main goal would be retention. Hoping for the best in the future and progress for the entire Reddit posh team

Best regards, I'll try joining Reddit and see how it goes.

good luck!
