RE: Statement regarding Twitter API changes concerning POSH

in HivePosh3 years ago

I hear you. It does suck, especially after seeing it become so effective. I was skeptical at first but quickly changed my tune once seeing results. And I've been championing the importance of sharing to the outside, for years, to the point where I hate the sound of the thoughts when I start thinking about it again... lol

Yeah, some have, one of the main reasons I focused so much of my time on POSH was due to @smooth a long time ago stating that content that doesn't get traffic from the outside could very well be worth 0 to hive. He's not wrong, while there is content that at least gets consumed by other Hivers and deserves rewards IMO there's so much that consistently gets upvoted by some that clearly doesn't and I've been very vocal about changing those ways. My curation project for instance looks very often at that before casting votes.

If you can't even get people here to consume your content whom you can directly engage and reward, you're most likely not going to manage to get them from the outside.

No, he's not wrong. Along the same lines, I've been loud about bringing in actual paying consumers, and still am...

I'm shocked when I see a content creator with a large outside following, show up here, get nowhere, and not even realize what they can do for themselves, independently, with some of the tools in place. Could attract 1000 content creators that willingly work of tips elsewhere, here, but if they don't bring their consumers with them, it's money out the door.

Nice to see you around btw, post something. :P
