Today I visited my home village, and it was a truly refreshing and fulfilling experience that brought me closer to nature, family, and my roots. The morning started early, with the chirping of birds and the cool breeze of the countryside welcoming me warmly. The air felt pure and the surroundings were full of greenery, unlike the city where everything is always in a rush and the environment is filled with noise and pollution. As soon as I reached, I greeted my family members, who were very happy to see me, and we all shared some warm moments together.
After having a traditional breakfast prepared by my grandmother, I decided to go outside and help with the village work. One of the most meaningful tasks I took part in today was planting a banana tree. With the help of my uncle, we selected a good spot near the field where the soil was rich and moist. I dug a hole, placed the young banana sapling inside, and covered it with mud gently. Then, I watered it properly and prayed silently for it to grow well and bear many fruits in the future. Planting that tree made me feel connected to the earth in a very real way. It was a small contribution, but it felt like I was giving something back to nature. After planting the banana tree, I didn’t rest.
There was still a lot of work to do around the house and fields. I helped in cleaning the cow shed, feeding the animals, and then went to the nearby farm to assist in removing weeds and checking the irrigation system. Working in the sun was a bit tiring, but the feeling of doing physical work with my own hands was something I don’t usually experience in my daily life. The villagers were friendly and cheerful, and working alongside them gave me a sense of community and belonging. Everyone worked with a smile and shared stories while working, which made the time pass quickly. Later in the afternoon, I joined a group of children who were collecting dry leaves and twigs for the evening fire.
We talked and laughed, and they asked me about city life while I asked them about their school and games. I realized how simple yet meaningful village life is. People live closely with nature, eat fresh food, and spend more time with family and neighbors. After completing all the tasks, I took some rest under a large banyan tree near the edge of the farm, watching the sun slowly set behind the hills. It was a peaceful moment that reminded me of the beauty and calmness that village life offers. As evening came, we all gathered for dinner, which was again made from fresh vegetables and homegrown grains.
Eating that food after a long day of hard work felt so satisfying. Today was not just about planting a banana tree or doing work; it was about reconnecting with my roots, understanding the value of hard work, and appreciating the peacefulness of rural life. I felt proud of contributing, even in small ways, to the life of my village. This visit reminded me that progress does not always mean moving away from traditions; sometimes, it means going back and taking care of where we came from. I hope to visit again soon and continue contributing to the village’s growth and greenery.
Thanks for watching this post and supporting me ❤️
It always feels great going back home. I visited my hometown a few months ago after almost a year of living somewhere else and everything was so familiar and yet so different
