मैंने सोचा तो ये था कि ज़िंदगी में कुछ बड़ा करेंगे। पर कभी मौका नहीं मिल पाया। एक दिन एक पादरी के पास गया और पूछा कि क्या मैं कभी rich बनूँगा। वो बोला कि जरूर बनोगे बस इसके लिए ईसाई बनना होगा। मैं पहले तो समझा नहीं पर बाद में पता चला कि वो कन्वर्ट होने के बाद मेरा नाम Rich रख रहा था। अमीर वाला रिच नहीं बल्कि रिच नाम का ईसाई। खैर, मैंने वो प्लान कैन्सल किया।

फिर सोचा कि जब एक कामयाब आदमी के पीछे एक औरत का हाथ होता है तो ज़िंदगी में एक औरत को भी शामिल कर लेते हैं। एक फिल्म में मैंने देखा था कि हीरो की गर्लफ्रेंड ने उसे ठुकरा दिया तो उसने रात दिन इतनी पढ़ाई की कि वो आईएएस बन गया। पहले उसने गाना गया, "ठुकरा के मेरा प्यार मेरा इंतकाम देखेगी।" फिर वो आईएएस बन गया और उसने गर्लफ्रेंड से अपना बदला लिया। मैंने सोचा कि अगर मेरी गर्लफ्रेंड बनी और उसने मुझे धोखा दिया तो मैं भी मेहनत करूंगा और एक दिन आईएएस बन जाऊंगा।

लेकिन किस्मत को कुछ और ही मंजूर था। मेरी शक्ल देखकर कोई लड़की गर्लफ्रेंड बनने को तैयार नहीं हुई। आखिरकार एक मिली जिसकी शक्ल पर मेरी तरह ही बारह बजे हुए थे। मैंने सोचा कि एक न एक दिन वो मुझे धोखा जरूर देगी पर ये सपना सपना ही रह गया। उसे भी बड़ी मुश्किल से एक बॉयफ्रेंड मिला था। उसने मुझे छोड़ा ही नहीं। बल्कि मुझसे शादी कर ली। मेरा आईएएस बनने का सपना इस तरह टूट गया।

फिर भी मै मेहनत से डरा नहीं। मैंने सुन रखा था कि मेहनत इतनी खामोशी से करो कि कामयाबी खुद शोर मचा दे। इसी राह पर चलते हुए आज मेरे पाँच बच्चे हैं जो रात दिन शोर मचाते हैं। आज ससुराल में मेरी बहुत पूछ होती है। मेरा ससुर रोज पूछता है कि बेटा कब तक तू ससुराल की रोटी तोड़ेगा। पर मैं भी स्वाभिमानी आदमी हूँ। मैंने अपने ससुराल में रहकर रोटी खाना ही छोड़ दिया है मित्रों। अब मैं वहाँ चावल दाल खाता हूँ ताकि कोई मुझे रोटी तोड़ने का ताना न मार सके। कैसा लगा मेरा प्लान?
