There are two currency recognized by every user on hive.io, we have hive and hbd. The two have different use cases but linked. Hive is the native token of hive Blockchain, hivers can get this currency in various ways but the most popular way is through payout on post. With hive the usage is a little technical, it is something every hive.io user needs to learn in order to survive in the Blockchain. Hive can be used for staking; also known as power up. Which means with your liquid hive, you can use it to get more Hive power (hp).
Not just that, it can also be transferred and spent just like every other currency but since it crypto currency, it means you have to transfer to an exchange that supports hive either Dex or Cex. This just the tip of hive usage, that is why I said it technical but for HBD, it is quite different.
You can also get HBD from payout, there is a little twist there though. I mean there are times when you get liquid hive as payout and there are times when you get HBD instead. With hbd, the usage is simple, it is either you convert to hive and follow the usage i explained earlier or you save it. Hive can also be saved but I don't think it comes with the juicy interest attached to saving up Hbd.
HBD is dollar pegged, almost equivalent to 1 usdt and on a good day, it also rise above 1 usdt. Having HBD is just like having dollar in your account that can be used anytime you want.
How do I spend my HBD? quite lavishly I would say. My attitude towards both currency is different, probably because I feel I can easily stake my hive but I can also do the same with HBD but not really. I have saved HBD a couple of times but I treat it as an emergency fund for external matters compared to hive.
Since it comes with interest, I can easily save up my HBD for later use. Which means by the time I'm in need of it, I would be getting an extra amount on it. Probably in the future, i might get involved in the savers club but I just have not found the right time to start.
