A Saving Culture

Saving is one crucial habit for building a life of financial security, creating an emergency fund if any comes up and reaching some personal goals. To successfully save a reasonable amount of money, the process starts with a good understanding of creating a well detailed plan for what the money will be used for at the end of the day.

Over the years, I have adopted so many ways I can save my money and the first ever method I used was using a piggy bank. It is one of the easiest ways to save back in the days, where I do not need money for anything during my teenage years but later, as I grew older it no longer became a safe way for me to save because since I always see my little save everyday I go there to take what I want and end up achieving nothing. Secondly, I started saving with a group of people when I started working at least I do not see nor touch the money till it was my turn to receive my own part. but along the line some people after receiving theirs begin to bring silly excuses so I had to stop for my sanity.

Currently the one method that has helped me in my saving journey, is that I opened a special account that's meant for just saving only. I do not have access to it, no ATM at all. Because my younger brother was also interested in saving his own money, we both went to the bank, opened a joint account that would disable either of us access except with our mutual consent and the rule is that only by the end of the year we would withdraw whatever is ours and then close it back. So this is one way I save my money and ensure to use it for the purpose of which I started saving initially.

Also my plans for the year are not much because I have come to realize it is not about making a long list every end of the year rather sticking to one or two Smart goals that leaves one fulfilled at the end of the day that matters. One of my goals is to assist school kids with the least I could help them with every term. I will be starting with exercise books and pens till I will be able to assist with school fees. I would have started with the preparation for this since last December when school was still on holiday but it only crossed my mind last week with nothing in place. School just resumed so I believe I will be able to do something for them this term. And lastly is to invest in my personal physical library bit by bit. I do read books but mostly e-books and I do not want to deceive myself that I'm doing well with the e-books stuff because last year it took me months just to finish one book. So I will rather invest more in physical books to help broaden my understanding.

Yes, it's not making a long list, but actualizing one or two plans makes us filled
