Social media is fun, no doubt about it, I could stay the whole day checking TikTok, Facebook, then move to Twitter and Instagram before, I kept burning my data unnecessarily without getting value for it, I could connect with friends and chat from morning till night but what is the point of wasting so much time without getting any reward for it?
For many years, I only used those popular centralized platforms, they felt exciting and they helped me escape boredom, I was enjoying it not until I noticed that I was giving too much of my time and energy without getting anything in return, I posted pictures and videos but only see likes and comments, nothing more.
Then my neighbor introduced me to hive at first I was skeptical about it but I had to give it a try, I wanted to understand how that worked because I had never heard of such a thing before, curiosity pushed me to register and explore, my first days were confusing, but I felt a strong belief that Hive was different in a good way, I see hive as a social platform that gives users ownership and value.
On Hive, I own my content completely, no one can delete my account or remove my post because they feel like it, my work stays safe on the blockchain, that alone makes Hive stand out from centralized platforms that treat users like people who have no rights, I was scrolling on tiktok few days ago and I saw some people shouting that their accounts got banned but nothing like that on Hive blockchain.
Another amazing thing about Hive is the reward system, when someone likes your post on Hive, you do not just smile and move on, you actually earn tokens that have real value, It may not make you rich immediately but it encourages you to keep improving, on platforms like TikTok or Instagram, millions of content creators waste their efforts while companies make all the money.
Hive community also feels special, people support each other more, It is not about who has the perfect life but about who has a real story to tell, I met people who gave me advice and motivated me to keep posting even when my content is simple, someone always appreciates it.
Though Hive is not perfect too, there are days when engagement is low, that can be so frustrating and also people are undergoing low income on hive right now, so hive can be fluctuating and there is nothing anyone can do about that, as a newbie you can easily feel lost when you join but once you understand a little and become consistent, you begin to enjoy the journey.
So, is Hive better than centralized social media? From my experience, yes, Hive gives me freedom, Hive gives me value, Hive gives me peace, I spend less time scrolling and more time creating, I feel like my time matters whenever I am building something useful with my time.
The future of Hive looks bright to me, more people are getting tired of the unfair system of web2 platforms, I believe that as more people discover Hive, it will grow bigger and better, It may take patience, but great things are built slowly.
Joining Hive gave me a chance to turn my online time into something meaningful, I no longer feel like I am wasting my days on content that isn't my own on web2 because every post on hive feels like an investment, Hive has changed how I use social media and I am proud to be part of its future, Hive feels like home to me every single day.

Comparing web 2 with hive is just like looking down on hive. Hive is that platform that gives its user full ownership. Every article you made here on the blockchain you will earn will in web 2 is not like that.
