Honestly, I wouldn’t really say I have a steady or large source of income. My income isn’t consistent, and there are times when money comes in slowly or not at all. Because of that, I’ve had to learn how to manage whatever little I get in a very intentional way. So, for me, income management isn’t really about having plenty of money, but about being careful and realistic with the one I have.
The first thing I focus on is minimizing my spending. I’ve come to realize that if I don’t consciously control how I spend, the money will disappear before I even understand where it went. So, I try my best to reduce unnecessary expenses and only spend on things that truly matter. This hasn’t been easy, especially because there are always temptations around, but I’ve learned that discipline is very important when money is limited.
One area where I noticed I was spending a lot of money is food. At first, I didn’t really pay attention to it, but over time, I realized that food was taking a large portion of whatever income I had. Most of the time, it wasn’t even on quality meals, but on junk food and unhealthy snacks that didn’t really benefit me in any way. I would buy things impulsively just because they were convenient or because I felt hungry at the moment.
After realizing this, I decided to make a change. Instead of spending money carelessly on junk food, I now try to spend more on better and healthier food options. Even though they might seem a bit more expensive at first, they actually help me save money in the long run because I feel fuller, healthier, and less tempted to keep buying snacks all the time. It has also helped me become more conscious of what I eat and how often I eat outside.
Apart from food, I also try to plan ahead before spending money. I ask myself simple questions like, “Do I really need this?” or “Can this wait till later?” This mindset has helped me avoid a lot of unnecessary purchases. I’ve also learned to appreciate small amounts of money and stretch them as much possible rather than complaining about how little they are.
Overall, managing my income has taught me responsibility and self-control. Even though I don’t earn much, I’m learning how to live within my means and make better financial decisions. I believe that these habits will really help me in the future when I start earning more because I’ll already have a strong foundation for managing money wisely.
