Yesterday, I talked about how Tribeldex was not working, and today I want to explain why decentralized exchanges are the better option when you have to choose between centralized and decentralized exchanges.
One of the most important reasons is ownership of your tokens. This is why people often say that decentralized exchanges, Web3 wallets, or cold storage wallets are the safest options. In a centralized exchange, the tokens do not truly belong to you.
They are tied to an account allocated to you, and you only see a reflection of the tokens. To withdraw your funds, you have to send a request to the owners of the centralized exchange. Once they confirm your request, further processing takes place before you finally get your funds.
In contrast, on a decentralized exchange, you do not have to go through these confirmations. You simply follow the rules of the network, and you can withdraw your funds directly.
Another important reason to consider is recent market activity during liquidations. Many people were unable to protect their positions during sudden market drops. Those using centralized exchanges often got late or were unable to book their losses, which led to liquidations.
One reason for this is the difference in the number of users. Centralized exchanges have many more users, almost around 10 times more, than decentralized exchanges. This high traffic can cause delays or even prevent the exchange from functioning properly during panic situations.
Decentralized exchanges, on the other hand, have fewer users, so network congestion is less likely, and you can manage your funds more efficiently even in extreme market conditions.
