How Much Money Do I Need Each Month?

in Indiaunited15 days ago

Hello everyone, how are you? I hope you're all well. It's nice to see you again in this community contest. I'm happy to be able to express what's on my mind. This time's question is quite interesting. How much money is enough to cover my needs and worries?

When we talk about money and desires, it seems like there's never enough. Once we reach a certain point, we always go beyond that point. The same goes for needs. So, what about my needs? How much money do I need to cover my needs?

I'm talking about personal needs. After my mother passed away, I still have the responsibility of supporting my younger sister until she graduates from college. This year is her final year. So, we live with only two people. I also need to think about education costs.

My personal needs include daily necessities, housing, and purchasing other products. I'm taking private English lessons for the IELTS soon. I'll have to take the test in three months. So, my total monthly needs are: a minimum of $300 and a maximum of $500. For me, this is enough to cover my needs.

This is a far cry from a few years ago. In fact, roughly speaking, I'm part of the sandwich generation, which means I need to provide for others. In 2023, my mother passed away. Far from it, I needed to provide for my mother as well. By working, I was able to provide for three people.

Just because I wasn't married and wasn't considered to have other needs, I was considered obligated to provide for my mother and younger sister. I hated that. Meanwhile, married sons were considered free to give whatever money they could afford.

Looking back, this situation put me in a bit of a bind. It was difficult to do what I wanted. In fact, in some situations, I was trapped by work and routine alone. That's all I can share. What do you think? Have you experienced the same thing?
