After a short break, I am sharing my thoughts once again. Recently, my sister visited us with her family, bringing warmth and joy into our home.

During this time, our family received good news. My cousin was blessed with a baby girl. The arrival of a child is truly a blessing and should always be welcomed with confirmed happiness.

My cousin already has a two-year-old daughter, and now he has been blessed with another baby girl. While most people were happy, there were a few reactions that carried a subtle sense of disappointment. Some comments suggested that if the baby had been a boy, the family would feel “complete.”

I want to clarify something very clearly— I have no doubt that, families love their daughters equally. They care for them, nurture them, and support their future without discrimination.

What I am talking about is the first moment— the note of sadness that sometimes appears at the time of birth.

If a family is blessed with two sons, it is rare to see any disappointment. No one questions the completeness of the family then. So why does this feeling arise only when there are two daughters?

In the end, I am genuinely happy for my cousin. They are blessed with two daughters—two smiles, two lives, and two promising futures. I hope we learn to celebrate this joy wholeheartedly, right from the very first moment.

बहुत दिनों के बाद आज फिर अपने विचार साझा कर रही हूँ। हाल ही में मेरी बहन अपने परिवार के साथ घर आई हुई थी, जिससे घर में खुशियों और अपनापन का माहौल बना रहा।

इसी दौरान हमारे परिवार में एक अच्छी खबर भी आई। मेरे भाई के घर एक प्यारी-सी बच्ची का जन्म हुआ। किसी भी परिवार में बच्चे का आना ईश्वर का आशीर्वाद होता है और यह स्वाभाविक रूप से खुशी का विषय होना चाहिए।

लेकिन इस खुशी के पल में एक बात ने मुझे सोचने पर मजबूर कर दिया।

मेरे Cousine की पहले से ही एक दो साल की बेटी है, और अब दूसरी बार भी बेटी ही हुई है। जब यह खबर लोगों तक पहुँची, तो ज़्यादातर लोग खुश थे, लेकिन कुछ प्रतिक्रियाएँ ऐसी भी थीं जिनमें हल्की-सी मायूसी महसूस हुई। यह बात कही गई कि अगर बेटा होता तो परिवार “पूरा” हो जाता।

यहाँ मैं एक बात बिल्कुल साफ़ करना चाहती हूँ— मुझे इस बात पर कोई संदेह नहीं है कि समय के साथ परिवार दोनों बच्चियों से बराबर प्यार करता है। उनके पालन-पोषण, शिक्षा और भविष्य को लेकर भी कोई भेदभाव नहीं होता।

लेकिन मेरा सवाल उस पहले पल से जुड़ा है— जब बच्ची जन्म लेती है और पहला रिएक्शन खुशी की बजाय हल्की निराशा का होता है।

अगर किसी परिवार में लगातार दो बेटे पैदा हों, तो शायद ही कभी किसी के चेहरे पर उदासी दिखती है। तब कोई यह नहीं कहता कि “अब बेटी भी होनी चाहिए थी।” तो फिर दो बेटियाँ होने पर ही यह भावना क्यों?

मेरा मानना है कि समस्या प्यार में नहीं, बल्कि सोच में है। बेटियाँ किसी भी तरह से परिवार को अधूरा नहीं बनातीं। वे भी उतनी ही सशक्त, सक्षम और सम्मान की हकदार हैं जितने बेटे।

ये सिर्फ मेरे मन में उठे कुछ सवाल और विचार हैं, जिन्हें मैंने शब्दों में उतार दिया। कहते हैं, लिखने से मन हल्का हो जाता है—शायद यही वजह है कि मैंने यह सब लिखा।

अंत में बस इतना कहना चाहूँगी कि मैं अपने Cousin के लिए दिल से खुश हूँ। उनके घर अब दो बेटियाँ हैं—दो मुस्कानें, दो ज़िंदगियाँ, और दो उज्ज्वल भविष्य। काश हम सब उस पहले पल में भी वही खुशी महसूस करना सीख सकें।
