Free Christian Missionary Stories for Homeschooling

in Home Edders2 years ago

In the past I have used missionary stories as part of our homeschool. This year, I wanted to make sure to include them as well, so I did some digging for free sites!

We have listened to all of the Christian Heroes Then and Now books that have been available on our Libby app, so I knew I needed to do some digging to find some new stories for us to read.

Yesterday, while making this post about how we use free sites to homeschool, I was also looking for missionary story websites. I was able to find a few that referred me to books I could purchase, but I was looking for a way to add them for free, since shipping to Panama isn't cheap!

Missionary Stories is a site I found that includes four different stories. They are broken up into smaller sections or videos. It looks like you can download the text and read it, as well as see some photos. It will give us 20 lessons about these four missionaries - some we have never heard of before.

I also found 40 Missionary Stories which appears to have been written in the 1930's. This is a 90 page pdf that can be downloaded. We read the introduction today and the author said that they are all true stories based on the lives of missionaries - thanks to letters written by the missionaries in many cases. These look like really interesting stories - I am looking forward to getting into these lessons more!

Missionary Books Kids Love has a great list of books about missionaries - written for kids. The whole collection of Christian Heroes Then and Now is included as well as many others. It at least gives me something to look for on YouTube or the Libby app to see if any of the libraries we are in have them available.

The last one that looked interesting to me was Missionary Study Pages. You get a free download for signing up for the newsletter. Then the students (or teacher) will research whichever missionary is presented and write the information on the pages. I guess more like a research project than what I am looking for, but still possibly useful to me in the future.

I am pretty excited about the ones I have found and look forward to reading more about these missionaries in the future. I am sure we will all learn something from reading about their perseverance and struggles on the mission field. I enjoy including this as part of our homeschool day and hope the children will someday look back and apply something about the missionaries to their lives.

Do you know of any other free missionary stories or studies available online?

This is cool, I know that we are looking to get our son into doing some things related to church and Christianity this year or next. Not to be an ultra orthodox family or anything but for the moral benefits that comes along with it. He's asked a little bit about it here and there so I think he's almost ready to take a look at it all but problem is he doesn't sit still very well hahaha

I recently wrote a post about a nice family that wrote some great kids books and I think they are also available online as e-books, although it isn't free sadly. It's a much different educational program compared to the shit that's out there for kids nowadays!

It teaches a lot of great things for money, has some faith in there which is nice, and being able to be independent people not dependent people. It was a refreshing find for books!
