Its no longer a secret that our life's is full of theories with no experience and on many occasions we find it very difficult to relate what we know as theory in experience. No mater how much you are good in theory, you will lack application in real life experience but when you have experience, it makes the journey of life very smooth and interesting.
There is a saying that goes that "experience is the best teacher", I do agree with that then my question is How many life experience will i have to personally go through to be able to have an experiential knowledge that will have the capacity to carry me through the journey of successfully?.
An inspirational speaker once said that if we all want to practically share in all the experience that life has to offer every man then we should be rest assured that before we successfully finish the learning process, many will tell the story that we had wanted to experience. In all this am saying that by our advantage of age as parents, we have learnt so many things that we don't need to allow our children have before they can learn.
The experience that we have been privileged to have is so that we can share with our kids. many of our kids are so confused in school, because of the many laws, principles and theories that can not be related to a real life experience, this is mostly because many of our children teachers in the circular education are ignorantly void of the experience and in their confusion our kids are lost but if we deliberately give time for our children and share with them our experiences.
like i said before, until we deliberately as parents decide to build the bridge that links the theories our children get from school to real life experience we may be thinking we are doing so much not knowing that we are doing just little or nothing.
- Find Out from them, what they have learnt within a space of time.
For many parent this may be a very difficult task due work schedules and other relative engagements, but i do believe that any thing that is worth doing should be done well, as such even if you will have to hire someone that you know that can do that for you in your absent then it will be wise if you do so while you also engage them once in a while when you are chance to evaluate them to know if what you are paying for is duly done. if this is duly done, you will also be playing an amazing part in their circular education.
- Find out What really interest them about life
When you ask kids this kind of questions, you will practically get to understand their perspective to life and all other relational issues. this is also when you share with them your personal experience or other peoples life testimony that have bless and added value to your life. this is when you ask about their life philosophies. what drives them, why they do things the way they do, and what they hope to achieve if they engage those ideologies.
I want to conclude with this joke, I hope you will see the need to build the bridge between theory and real life experience
passenger were boarding an aircraft and were about to take off, as a normally the pilot will have to give sensitive information before the air craft will take off, the pilot saluted the passengers and said that the flight they are in was designed and constructed by graduate of our tertiary institution, so they should all seat tied as we go onboard. before the pilot could even finish his words the passengers were already off the air craft, but shockingly there was an elderly man still in the air craft so he was asked why he did not join others, so he made this statement, **I am a university professor, i am not worried because with what we teach them, the aircraft will not even move not to talk of flying, He was ask why he then said by implication that, they don't even have understanding of the theory not to talk of translating into experience.
This is a call to be deliberate in rebuilding the long standing broken bridge between theory and real life experience
