PROGRESS OF UNSCHOOLING

in Home Edders2 months ago

Good news for all fans of unschooling. Our idea is developing!

From year to year the number of unschooling kids increases, and it touches all regions of my country.

What do I see in my city?

In Kerch 3 years ago there was 1 private organisation for kids who don't go to state schools.

Now there're 4 of them!

The number of kids whose parents have chosen unschooling life (and they don't visit private educational organisations either - and we're among them) also increases!

Officials news gives us reasons for joy and pride and outrage with sorrow for many officials;)

Not all of them are glad to see this statistics. Many of them try to cause problems and restrictions for unschooling parents and their kids.

For example, in Kazan (Tatarstan) the Minister of Education ans Science asks educational staff and teachers not to let kids leave schools.

The popularity of unschooling can'tbe stopped. More and more parents choose this alternative but LEGAL form and education for their kids. Most often it happens in the first grades (7-10 y.o), but many kids leave school later as well. It happens because of problems with teachers or kids protests against the system itself.

Morever, many teachers, who work in overcrowded schools and get too low salary, tell parents about home way of education, thus they promote it as well. They do it to get less work at school, but the result is the same - many kids prefer unschooling.

Bad news is that officials who don't like this statistics try to create the law that will forbid the alternative education in Russia.

But - good news - they can't do it! The law is being denied during many years.

Now when the number of unschooling families is increasing, it's almost impossible to take this law and create great outrage in society.

In 2021 in Tatarstan the number of unschooling kids was 224, in 2023 - уже 546, in 2025 - more than 3500!!

That leap in Tatarstan from 224 kids in 2021 to over 3500 in 2025 says a lot. When stressed teachers start pointing parents to home learning, you know the pressure is real. I’m relieved the ban keeps failing, and those numbers made my calculator blink. How are Kerch families handling attestation and building peer groups now that there are four local options?

That's a huge jump in numbers! Hopefully it continues to grow and maybe it will make them start thinking about improving school education for those who can't unschool.

I’m not knowledgeable in this topic but reading a few of your blogs, I’m slowly beginning to get a hand of it.
