RE: to bot or not...?

Farming rewards like @quochuy.

Of all people making auto posts, you single out @quochuy? I personally am sick of auto posts, but at least his is only once a week and he actually limits how many votes it can get (I believe $40, which he gets half). He also does a ton of development for the chain. None of the other auto posters do any one of these.

There recently have been auto posts posted daily reaching as high as $160. A few users posting 5 auto posts a day back to back while. Most of these people are no where to be found 99.5% of the time.

While I am all for going after auto posts, in fact I have been if you notice my votes, you picked the worst example possible.

Judging by history, seems like it is more personal.

Sort:

tbh, he was the only one I am aware of at this scale.

Even though my witness had been (properly) disabled for 2+ years, I got mentioned weekly and then he edited that post like 8 times in a day, resulting in like 16 hivemind notifications in one day, just for me.

With all the mentions in that post that's some 100s of notifications sent and that is spam.

His reaction when I asked him to stop mentioning me was real bullshit, so I downvoted his posts and he just downvoted me in revenge. So yeah: it's personal.

I think he gets rewarded plenty and the post is just an excuse to get more.
There is a proposal fund and he got good chances to just be rewarded there.
If he'd not get enough rewards and recognition for his work on condenser, I'd support his posts, but in his case I think it's enough and he'd have other means of getting paid.

The posting rewards are for posts.

Also, I have seen people get threatened with heavy downvotes for mentioning less people than him. I think it is real unfair how some are allowed to do it, while others are not.

...at least he had enough humor to upvote my post about him, where I mentioned him exclusively in my compilation of data about witnesses mentioning me the most.

Try flagging curangel or ocd lovesniper auto posts. See how that works out for you.

What OCD Love Sniper auto posts do you think should be flagged?

Do you mean the comments we drop on first posts by new people? Because there's a team of us that do all the commenting manually.

Do you mean the Love Sniper Intro Post Curation posts? Because the team members are set as beneficiaries of those, so we get a bit of a reward for all the hours we put in each week.

I'm curious because you're talking about a way to help new users, which is the aim of Love Sniper (pun intended), yet you think the project should be flagged? Not sure how that works...

Because the team members are set as beneficiaries of those, so we get a bit of a reward for all the hours we put in each week.

That's not what posting rewards are for.
I put in hours every week for 5+ years now, voting with my own stake.
Do I deserve posting rewards for curating?

lovesniper and ocd in general is a way for you and acidyo to make $$, nothing more.

Oh sorry - I didn't realize you made the rules about posting rewards. My bad.

And well done you, doing curation work with your own stake. If I understand this correctly, every time you upvote someone with your own stake, you make 50% if that back, right? So very altruistic of you.

The LS project isn't about upvotes - we're focused on guiding new people to resources to help them navigate the blockchain, as well as verifying (to the best of our ability) that they aren't scammers/spammers/bad actors. I put in hours every week vetting, having conversations on other social media platforms, and walking newcomers through the not-particularly-user-friendly ecosystem.

If I wanted to just make money, I'd follow your lead and do the 1 photo/2 sentences thing for auto votes. But I appreciate the answer - I definitely understand where you're coming from now.

But you do make the rules about posting rewards and that pisses me off.

Who decided that 1 photo/ 2 sentences doesn't deserve rewards?

I am sick of 3 picture / xxx words type of content like you try newbies to force towards.

At least you have powered up some yourself.
Normally the hard working curators farm their guaranteed votes for boring school essay type posts and then cash out.

Not much else to say, though.
Have fun giving out special points for effort, Mrs York.

Mrs York? Wow, that's adorable. Generous and gentlemanly - your mom must be so proud.

But now I'm confused - you make the rules, but you don't make the rules and I do? And not sure what you're talking about, because I actually curate single photo posts, flash/micro fiction stories, even a haiku or two. But I guess it's easier for you to just assume I'm forcing newbies to bend to my will (geez, I feel all powerful now...lmfao).

And since you're so interested in my wallet - back in 2017 I cashed out 10 SBD, just to see if this "magic internet money" could be turned into fiat. Since that time, I've reinvested it about 7 times over (would've been more if I could've afforded it), and haven't ever powered down or cashed any other liquid out.

Not because I'm wealthy - in fact, we're currently behind on our rent & our youngest is buying groceries for the household since my husband has been out of work since February. Things are in the process of getting better though, and while I do plan to cash some out eventually, for the moment I'm just stacking & hodling. Figured I'd mention it so you understand where I'm coming from - Hive is a long term investment to me (well, so much more than that, but to make it simple for this discussion) and I am doing everything I can to make sure that this blockchain achieves the great things I believe it's capable of.

Oh, and I also run a monthly initiative to encourage smaller accounts to power up (where the "special points" are delegations). Again, I'm here for the long haul, which is why I was curious where you (as a Hive Witness) were coming from. I definitely have a clear picture now, so thanks again for that.

I didn't ask for your life story...

I was curious where you (as a Hive Witness) were coming from. I definitely have a clear picture now, so thanks again for that.

You came here, because I downvoted one of your hardworking ocd friends and tried to somehow get at me. You couldn't find anything, but some low effort posts and the comment about lovesniper and that I operate a witness node. Got anything else? Ok bye.

If I understand this correctly, every time you upvote someone with your own stake, you make 50% if that back, right? So very altruistic of you.

Just for the record:

  • is has not always been like that
  • I get 'curation rewards' regardless of what I vote for.

If everybody did what you try here, posting rewards would be distributed by a centralized authority, completely killing the idea of this project.
