I liked hivebuzz and I also liked wang.
I think one test of automation is whether or not it annoys people.
Another test might be, is it providing a service for the reader or the poster. hivebuzz encourages the end user, while one you are discussing is kind of "asking" for votes.
Also, I guess they didn't implement the vote decay yet..
